That gives me an idea, there is a nuclear bunker by the Martello tower on Felixstowe sea front!

And one from Italy this morning - they are keeping their sense of humour amid the crisis thumbs

Due to fly to Sofia tomorrow morning on a ski trip - flight still on but state of emergency declared oops

Might get there then everything shut down and end up in lock down.

Clash song comes to mind!

My recommendation: skip it! You may get to Bulgaria but you can be sure to have severe problems getting back.

In Tyrol curfew has been declared. All Austrian skiing resorts are closing down and I assume it will be only a matter of days that touristic locations in Bulgaria will follow.

I'd cancel and to hell with the cost: you may get there, but there is a good probability you won't get any time on the slopes and unless this is a package holiday, getting home could be a challenge.

A nice article in the NYT on how washing hands represents a valuable activity. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/13/health/soap-coronavirus-handwashing-germs.html
Handy to explain to people who don't get it yet.

At this point the airlines that are still flying should only carrying residents for re-patriation. Bulgaria has already closed travel to several countries and the UK could be added to the list at any moment.

Quote
On March 13, after 16 reported cases in one day, Bulgaria declared state of emergency for one month until April 13. Schools, shopping centres, cinemas, restaurants, and other places of business were closed. Only supermarkets, food markets, pharmacies, banks and gas stations remain open.[23] Additionally, all arrivals from Italy, Spain, Iran, South Korea and China are placed under a mandatory 14-day quarantine.[24]

As to whether the UK's policy is the right one or not, I'm pretty well persuaded by the view of Dr William Hanage, professor of the evolution and epidemiology of infectious disease at Harvard University

Changed the EasyJet flights from Sofia to Santorini in October - hopefully, some return to normality by then. Volcano will probably erupt again.
