I obtained the boss for my Nardi steering wheel from SCARBOROUGH RACING DEVELOPMENTS. Tel number 01723 363786. They don’t seem to have a website. An old fashioned supplier, knowledgeable and helpful. If I remember correctly it was Momo item which I had to adapt but the diameter and spline was correct. The part number was SPR 1037 looking back on my records?

Have looked at these myself ..... only pics on the web ..... they look decently finished in the pics and seriously cheaper than a motolita ..... would also be interested to hear from someone who has personal experience of the wood-rim wheel .... they're going new for 80 quid on the bay of e .

Yes a cheaper alternative to the Moto-Lita. IIRC, not sure though, the original wheel as fitted to the first plus 8’s was made by Astrali. That was nice.

My 1969 4/4, 1979 model (vinyl dash etc.) came with a huge Bakelite wheel with 3 sprung spokes which I still have. When the car was rebuilt in 1977 it was fitted with the lovely Astrali.

Save that original, they are becoming quite sought after When restoring the 70 yr old one off the F Super I had to pay quite a lot to have the rim re-cast BTW, warning to all - be careful with old Bakelite items, they often contained microscopic asbestos fibres in the 'mix'

My '78 4seater came with a flat wooden Moto Lita steering wheel which I changed to a slightly dished leather wheel of the same size. It is a Nardi and Super Spoke supplied a quick release boss. This is one of the most successful improvements that I have carried out to the car. The leather is particularly well shaped to fit in the palm of my hands and is slightly more giving to hold - a definite advantage on secondary uneven roads. When using the flat wheel, I would often knock the indicator stalk- this is eliminate now and this is so much better and safer. I am over 6' tall and over 70 yrs-the quick release obviouslymakes exiting the car much easier but the main advantage of changing the wheel has been the comfort factor to my hands. There is a cost however, the speedo is hidden from my direct view. But I manage, tending to drive at a 'sedate pace'! John.

Astrali steering wheels are a cheaper alternative and you get what you pay for. Personally I would pay the extra for a Moto- lita or as I have done and fitted a Nardi wheel.
I've got a Nardi at the shelf. Is there a boss to fit in a 2018 plus4 ? René
2018 plus4 (sports green) with a homemade really shiny red tinted dash…

I used to have a mk1 mx5 which had a wood rim Nardi steering wheel. I would have thought these would be quite low cost from a mx5 breaker. I’m not sure if the fitting to the boss is the same as other Nardi wheels though.
