Well the Cranmog Cornish trip in May is cancelled. Our diary looks very empty. I worry now how any of the hotels, restaurants etc will survive.
My Sister & hubbie are on the last BA flight out of KL as they are closing all Malaysian airports.

I think this is a wake up call for the world.

It's hard to see how hotels and restaurants can survive months without income, it's creating a situation similar to a war by the looks.

It will take a long time to recover from the financial damage and unemployment in the leisure sector.

One of our Scottish B&Bs has just cancelled us, they have decided to close for the full year.

Agreed. 2020: the year without any vacations.
Much of the hospitality and travel industry will disappear.
Talk in the UK media that all the UK Train Operating Companies will fail and the Government will end up re-nationalising the sector, at zero cost!

Is this the story where HE starts with handing out several pieces and collecting some 5000 in return?

Was going to ask if it was hanging in the Loovre but decided against it

Just pondering and thought how many people drive cars vans bikes etc then how many pick up the petrol pump and fill the tank and at how many do they use in a week the same pump or many as they go about there job and further more how many hands have touched that pump in a day . Think I will carry some of those
throw away cheap rubber gloves and fill the tank to the top every time .

Using the same gloves when in the supermarket.

I can suggest a few trades that will benefit.

Locked up at home as the family unit for the first time in......ever?
Kids, parents, animals all in close proximity for 1-3 months.

Lawyers for d.i.v.o.r.c.e.
Drug manufacturers - i am going to suggest mogadon may take a lift and calpol will become an epidemic.
Delivery drivers in bio suites will be largely free to drive like lunatic bananas and park all over the road and pavement (god save them from catching it and us from them)
Punchbag vendors as people look to alternative ways of working out the frustratrion.

I have already heard from one of home-working ladies that the keep-fit she is doing will now be run on line. The trainer has taken a free account with 8x8 (video conference) and is using it to run the class with people joining in over the interweb. I am told you can all attach a suitable pulse tracking thing and it shows up on a scoreboard. Just what we need. People having a heart attack at home whilst all the beds are in use!

May we live in berserk times.

Peter great minds that's for sure if there was a scam at school my mate and I where running it even flogging the free school milk till we got caught got the cane many times and moved onto another way like selling the correct home work . putting bets on school football , boxing etc . My mate broke the ink pens nibs shoved 1/2 in a straw pushed a matchstick in the straw and used a dart board hidden . No wonder they all went into business . It still makes me roll with laughter

Boris Johnson graduated from Oxford with a thesis on ancient history. He is a scholar of the classical world, passionate about the history and culture of Rome, on which he wrote an essay. He even proposed the reintroduction of Latin into English public schools.

Mr. Johnson, listen carefully. We are Aeneas who carried Anchises, his old and paralysed father, on his shoulders, to save him from the fire of Troy, who protects his terrified son Ascanio, and who founded that Rome, which you love so much.

We are Virgil who gave that story to the world.

We are Gian Lorenzo Bernini who, twenty-two years old, carved that message for eternity, in marble.

We are dwarves, perhaps, but sitting on the shoulders of those giants and thousands of other giants who have made the great beauty of Italy available to the world.

You, Mr. Johnson, are simply someone who has studied us. Not understanding or learning anything, however.

Take care.

We, Italians.
