HB well said, I totally agree if there were experts on here they would at least be on the world platform and I don't see any there, they are mere opinions without a vestige of responsibility. Keep the faith and keep clear of the real enemy this damn virus. Please don't desert the ship as you and Bonesie are the only other two presently injecting some much needed humour onto the system you are such positive people generally, and you have more than enough to deal with on a personal level this year so don't let the miseries win we can't let that happen

I continue to post this information because I think it is important that people know what is happening from the raw figures without any media, or other bias, If you don't like it simply ignore me. New cantagions continue to fall. We are now being told that in our area we should start coming out of it by mid next week. I support HB's comments. It is bizarre that so many people on the internet with absolutely no expertise in this field believe they know better than Whitty or Vallance how the UK should handle the virus outbreak. Presumably this is mainly based on the more aggressive measures taken by Italy but it's entirely possible that the Italian measures have only suppressed the outbreak and that cases may increase again when quarantine is lifted. The EU has shown how useless it is with France and Germany refusing to sell face masks to Italy and the Eurooesn Court of Justice imposing a EUR 7.5 million fine on Italy while they are struggling with the virus.

Sorry Ken In a previous post I gave the translation of the column titles. Here they are again. The columns are: Hospitalised with symptoms, Intensive care, Home isolation, Total currently positive, Dismissed/cured, Deceased, Total cases, Tampons (swabs performed) You can probably assume that those with mild symptoms are those currently in "Home isolation". The first 3 columns add up to the 4th. The 4th, 5th, and 6th columns add up to the 7th. The figures are a bit all over the place but I should have specified tha new contagions are stabilised or falling in the north of Italy but increasing in the south. Hopefully with the restrictions in place it will start to have effect nationally in the next week or so. Take care out there and protect yourselves as best you can.

With all due respect, are Italians not actually losing loved one's in spite of no-one laying out the hard truths at the beginning??
I prefer to be treated as an adult and given the best assessment of the likely scenario ..... many in the UK have very poor focus on anything outside their interest-bubble ..... talking reality may help get across the severity of the situation ....tho for many I doubt they'll open their eyes and ears until someone they actually know, and are close to, dies.

K I'm not quite sure why I bother to reply. I had to leave it for a while or risk to get a bit out of order with the forum rules. I can assure you that Italians have been given the hard truth from day one! The very first area was very quickly placed under quarantine even with Police blocks in place. Successively other areas were placed in quarantine in an effort to control the spread of the virus. Every add break on TV we are bombarded with publicity to stay at home and take all the well published precautions. Road blocks are in place and this morning my wife was stopped by the local police for a control whilst walking the dog and doing some shopping at the same time. I can't imagine what hard truths you think we should have been told, unless it was the Boris Johnson hard truth that we should do nothing and let it run its course so that the herd (did I hear you say Baaaaaa!) becomes immune at the cost of loosing 10% of the population. Gambalunga ...it was never my intention to cause you anger ....however, you quoted a monologue directly vilifying Johnson for flagging up the reality of impending deaths from this virus ..... if Italians had been given a similarly stark warning at the start, why did the commentator consider it worthy of being singled out? ..... personally I value the direct honesty and find your last sentence above a gross misrepresentation of the UK position ...... I find your statistical posts enlightening and will continue to ....but I won't be responding further to your posts on this subject as I don't come here for conflict Regards K
