Neilda, our experience here is that after a short period of "panic buying" normality resumed and shelves became full again. The mrs. went out to shopping and there's some disruption because shops are open but there's a limit regarding the number of shoppers coexisting inside (there's a rule about 1 client per 25 square meters of shop area). So a queue outside is inevitable, but people are supporting it and understanding the need for it. And according to the mrs. the queue kept moving at a good pace so she didn't feel like wasting her time there.

Her main relief, however, (because we didn't stockpile one week ago, it felt wrong) was indeed that all she needed to buy was available and shelves didn't look empty or even half empty.

As a National Trust volunteer I suggested to the NT that we got together with the supermarkets & local charities to shopping for self isolated or at risk groups.
It will be interesting to here the response.

So NI, Wales and Scotland have joined every other country in Europe (and most of the Rest of the World) in closing schools.

England schools remain open.....

Rationing in the UK is now official , limit is 2 or is it three of the same item . Not sure how this is going to be policed as one could conceivably nip back into the supermarket and fill ones tolley again . rationing cards may be the answer ! At least we aren't being bombed ......yet !

I think I might still have my ration card issued when I was born....they were still around in the early ‘50s. Perhaps I can flash it at the till? 🤣

There is apparently an annoucement at 5pm. At least I can finally give the kids an answer - been inundated all week with questions from the kids with 'are we closing?' or 'why aren't we closing?'.....

My misses is office manager at large school. She told me over 300 of the kids have been taken out by parents so far. Maybe they will close the lead up to half term, giving them a month to re-group and see how it goes ?

We're about 20% down (just under 400 kids) today.

Personally, I think it wouldbe a good idea for a short term close - two weeks now, and then the two week Easter break and then re-assess the national situation.

Apparently local Army barracks have been mobilised and military transport is on the move. Don't panic, get out in your MOGS quick, typical mines in the workshop....[i][/i][u][/u]

I was surprised to read this, so I thought I'd log on to my Ocado account to see if there were any restrictions in availability. I was confronted with a screen along the lines of
"You are 17501 in a queue of 17852. You will not be able to log on for at least 2 hours. No delivery slots are available for the next 3 days. We are only making deliveries to existing account holders, no new customers are being taken on"

Blimey.
