Waitrose, Salisbury, 11:00 GMT
Quiet, people carefully social spacing. Shelves well enough stocked, low stocks of eggs and pasta. No toilet paper, but plenty of kitchen towels. Cafe converted into a special shop for NHS workers only and tightly managed. A lot of staff, clearly quite a few new ones, putting stock on the shelves.
It proves that it can be done, if everyone thinks about others and not themselves. Talked to a supervisor there I know, he said that the shortage of toilet paper is down to their low bulk volume and value, so as truck capacity is limited they are low, low priority. They get some stock every day, but is sells out early.

Sanity at last Peter. As you say it can be done. With all these people we are all paying to be on furlough then surely some would welcome the chance to help at supermarkets etc.

I just started sneezing and coughing like crazy. Nothing to do with Coronavirus though, it has more to do with the pepper and spice mix that I just ground up with the mortar and pestle and then put in 3 litres of boiling water. The bloody stuff is damn near toxic.
When it cools down I will pop in a great lump of beef that in 4 days time will become a spicy corned beef.
When I do this I tend to use a liberal hand with whatever we have available but I can't help wondering if I didn't exaggerate this time.
Corned beef is unknown in Italy so if I want some I have to make it myself. Commercial corned beef probably uses little or no spices but if you prepare it yourself it is easy enough and much nicer. When you start with a premium piece of beef from Piemonte tthe result is bound to be good. Absolutely delicious and so tender that you could cut it with the edge of the fork. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/03/23/20200323_191524.jpg)
