The local Gardener - has just turned up next door and started work.....with his two employees. Is he not in the real world?? It's a massive problem for the self-employed. With no access to the government's 80% salary replacement, the most they can get the £95 Universal Credit. That's not even enough to pay the rent, let alone buy food. If these guys can stay outside and maintain distance, then I guess that's all they can do. I'm self employed, the £95 won't even touch the sides of my overdraft.... SiFab will be staying open for as long as we can. Garages are permitted to do so, and we've got work. If you need any parts for your Morgans that I can help with, for as long as the supply chain holds up then please get in touch Simon@SiFab.co.uk Sifabtemporary@gmail.com

Whilst - I am (genuinely) concerned for self employed people, it is time for people to "stop and listen" to the Gov advise: we are to stop at home. If this (Old gentleman Gardener) gets Covid-19 and spreads it to another 2.5 people - the wages he might earn are totally insignificant. In my view he is flouting - what is the law now?

My 3rd son & his girlfriend are teachers in London. They stayed to teach essential workers kids. Now one of the neighbours at their block of flats in Onslow gardens has COVID 19 so they are self isolating. They have no symptoms so far. But the loonies ignoring social distancing in London really worry me. Plus the scenes of over crowding on the tube are crazy. I am so happy we moved my MIL from Walthamstow to Felixstow.in Dec. But she lives in as warden controlled retirement block and the warden is now self isolating. is a retired nurse & has been called up by the HHS. Probably to man the 111 phone lines at this stage. Tescos in Martlesham was very quiet with staff ensuing hand sanitation, sanitising the trolleys & strong social distancing rules. The local sausage shop will from Friday only take phone orders & they will put it in your car for you. Till then only 2 people in the shop. We now have supplies for a week so the drawbridge is coming up other than for to visit her 90 year Mum with food etc. and a daily walk across the fields to the River Orwell. Stay safe folks.

Airports - agreed Tube & Buses - how else are keyworkers going to get to work, particularly in cities? Maybe they can walk, on top of their 14hr day... Or suspend Tube & Buses, and introduce a scheme to re-allocate SORNed Boomer toy-cars to the frontline keyworkers?

It really is weird. You look at https://www.flightradar24.com/ and you see virtually nothing nothing over Italy and Spain and huge traffic density over the UK and Germany.

I saw a contrail over Sussex today. The first in ages. Same here. I was just out doing a bit of digging on the veg patch and reflected that normally at this time of day you can see at least half a dozen jets on their way westwards from the London/SE area. Tonight there was just one.

More good (well better) news from Italy. The number of new contagions has again fallen nationally and for the fourth day in a row for Lomdardia. Even though experts believe that there may be as many as 4 times the number who do not have symptoms and have not been tested. In Italy, since the beginning of the Coronavirus epidemic, 69,176 people have contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus (5,249 people more than yesterday for a growth of 8.2%). Of these, 6,820 have died (+743) and 8,326 have recovered (+894). There are currently 54,030 positive subjects In the very first "Red zone", Codogno, for the first time there were no new contagions. In an effert to stop movement anyone found to be driving a car without valid reason could be fined up to €4,000 From tomorrow service stations will be closed. I can only assume arrangements have been made to supply fuel for essential services and essential workers.
