Its sunk in I will not be driving the Mog for some time

I've cleaned and made sure it was dry.

Just gave the spokes a wipe over as they were not too bad and I don't want the brakes to bind.

Into the garage, dust cover on, handbrake off (as usual) and put it on the trickle charger.

Pumped the tyres up to 30 psi (will this help minimize flat spots?)



Is there 'owt else to consider?

Full tank of fuel to prevent condensation in tank?

Yup, I filled the Plus 8 up on Wednesdays shopping run ready for her little holiday in the garage.

I should do this, mine is nearly empty. I am starting it up regularly at the moment as I’m still fixing up the garage and need to move it out every now and then, hoping this will be enough to keep everything in order. That said the drive train does not get a work out even if the engine runs for a while.

I've stored cars over winter for around 40 years, and I've tried most approaches.

At least in warmer weather, running the engine shouldn't cause condensation issues, but don't half do it. Run it for a long time and use the revs. If you want to turn the rear axle it can be done with the car securely up on axle stands, or just lift the rear and turn the wheels occasionally, which will prevent flat spotting.

Keep a full tank. The only time I've had fuel go off was with a couple of gallons in the tank, and 18 months idle due to a rebuild. It was problematical to resolve. This winter this year was so wet that I put fuel stabiliser in both Morgans.

I've only had the clutch stick once. I've never had flat spots on the tyres.

I'll start my Morgans occasionally. The Roadster takes ages for the thermostat to open...….really ages...…….

I'll be taking the wheels off, and doing a deep clean. I'll be polishing the life out of the paintwork. I'll be conditioning the leather and vacuuming the interior.

Then I'll be looking what else I can do. I serviced them both over winter so the fluids are fresh.

I'll probably clean the Roadster soft top.

Why are people thinking of taking their cars off the road? I don’t get it. The whole idea of a Morgan is to use it, not store it.
Need some groceries? - use the Morgan
Collecting a prescription? - use the Morgan
Going to work?? - use the Morgan (if absolutely essential)
Finding a place to walk the dog? - don’t let the bloody thing in your Morgan

Plenty of places to park it safely, there are precious few cases of vandalism.
If you’re SORNing it, might as well decide who’s going to get it in your will

Yes Dave, in the rain.....the way I see it, if I’m going to go outside and risk Corona then I can risk a few drops of water.
