I've got to say that I don't find this type of 'smart' response very helpful on what I thought was a serious owner forum. If I've committed some silly error or mistake in my posting I'd appreciate being told in a more helpful fashion.

Can't help you re the car Chad but it's disappointing you have had the response so far, hopefully it was just tongue in cheek. It's a pretty friendly forum compared to some others it use! Good luck in your search.

Just put it down to Welsh humour :-)

I would think that any Aero 8 you come across will definitely be cossetted and low mileage.

Good luck with your search.

Chad,
Unfortunately you have been put in the middle of some harmless banter between Aeroman and GLLHG - there is I can assure you no slight on your enquiry whatever -- they just can't resist having a gentle "go" at each other -- it is all in jest!! G just has a particular "thing" about the Aero 8 and rarely missed the chance to "have a Go"

I do hope you find the car you want -- you will be welcomed into the Morgan fraternity whatever model you choose and you will find that the group here on TM are really helpful when anybody has a problem.

We do tend to have a pretty wicked sense of Humour though -- for one I enjoy it! of course I'd never join in!!! hide

Apologies Chad, Robbie has explained the situation perfectly and I know that neither Gerwyn or myself intended to impugn you or your request in any way.

Having said that, there has always a lighter side to TM and if you look through the forum you will see there is a fair amount of banter. This may not be to your personal taste, but that slightly anarchic sense of humour is one of the things that attracts some of us to the site. smile

I hope you do find a suitable Aero 8, a great choice by the way, I am sure you have had some PM's from members on this topic already. cheers

Sorry Chad, since I'm the 'culprit' here, let me be the one to apologise

The Aero is, as I am sure you'd agree, a stunning car and it has( justifiably) many many fans, including a lot of people on this site who have a great knowledge and experience of them.

The issue for some of us ( and I'm the worst 'offender' here) is that when one comes to the Aero, one is, to an extent, moving out of the traditional zone for Morgan owning and indeed pricing.

This raises big questions regarding what a prospective Aero owner would expect in terms of build quality, reliability etc. To put it another way, does the Aero come up to the standards of other cars coming in at the same price?

Precisely because they are hand built, this isn't always the case. We have some Aero owners on here who have had absolutely trouble free- cars while others have had one or a series of niggles with things such as electrics, shut lines/ fitting, leaks etc.- and ALL of these will have been cossetted and cared for, so you casn't really use that as a bench mark

In these cases, the upside is that the factory always seem very willing to sort things out. The downside is that perhaps a potential owner might take the view that given the car's pricing, these things shouldn't happen in the first place.

So, there you have it, the old 'Marmite' issue

Being a grumpy so and so I fall squarely into the latter category. Hence my initial cynical post

Don't be put off by that. As Robbie and Aeroman have said, the beauty of this forum is that we all have views and we all air them. So, my measured advice is: yes, it's a great, iconic car but check out the 'warts and all'angles before you buy one

Hope that clarifies
regards
G getcoat
