- just caught up with the latest episode of car SOS which featured a Lotus Esprit S1 -

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7syg7o

Apart from the usual nonsense bits (false time jeopardy, blagging parts, etc.), it was a really detailed, body off re-build.

What was really fascinating was the electronic dash that they replaced the original with. The guy who makes them (!) has been supplying a simpler version for the Lotus Elise S1 for a while now.

Check out this (short) link to the one he came up with for the Esprit -

https://www.facebook.com/carsosofficial/videos/1830633333738633/

Apparently, the technology means he could make a version for any car - classic or otherwise.

Like it (or not) , it is impressive stuff from what looks like a 'man in a shed' thumbs

He just plays the idiot, actually quite a clever chap. Perhaps it's brilliance bordering on insanity? smile

Looking forward to the "real" parts of tonight's programme re: a Lambo Espada

I really enjoy it - initially I got annoyed at all the pretend blagging, but now I find it quite amusing.

AND it helps the Mrs understand how we daft blokes get really attached to our vehicles......

+1

And the pretend blagging seems to have toned down a little in the current (E4) series.

The comedy duo format is aimed at filling in time and content that is not just workshop based. A straight man and a clown combination. Like most car series record it and FF through the bits you don’t like. It also adds a bit of lighthearted content to work with the tough scenarios of the car owners.

I agree with Arwyn, I enjoy the programme otherwise. Apparently they have a 40k budget per car ....🤔
