In addition to the masks you can 3D-print a face shield using an overhead folio or lamination folio if you have access to a 3d printer. Files and instructions can be found easily in the web. I printed shields for me and my wife to protect us.

Best regards from Austria

The downturn in income is going to cause some interesting things that we had not considered initially I suspect.

We live in what is normally a low crime area but a couple of nights ago we had two vans and a group of guys caught in cctv by a neighbour with torches looking under cars. The police reckon that they are taking catalytic converters off cars. Luckily they got nothing. In the early hours if this morning I woke to hear a vehicle slowly pull up outside my place. Looked out the window to see a hoody wearing guy flashing a torch around my neighbours drive. So of course I opened the balcony door and shouted out in my scariest voice...what the f**k do you think you are doing?.... Delivering milk mate was the answer. I went back to bed.

In the west, you are told wearing mask is useless, unless its for the medical profession, or someone who has the disease.

The doctors in the far east would beg to differ.

If I was wearing mask in the west , I would be ridiculed and laughed at or even get abused.

I always think this is BS!! You are wearing a mask to capture the droplets from your mouth, so if everyone wearing masks like those in Asia, it would help reduce the rate of transmission, you do not need professional opinions to tell you that!

Some form of barrier (masks) is better than none.

I can't help feeling this is said to stop the public buying up all the masks, thankfully, recent news article I read is finally coming round to the fact that masks do help reduce transmission if worn by the public.

you could still order masks from certain SITE , although it could be upto a month or longer before you'll get it though.

I bought mine in Feb when nobody in the west took any notice of the epidemic in China

It's interesting to watch on the media all the different styles of masks being worn, mostly the very basic and ill fitting paper ones (probably with a nil rating)

Our H&S manager at work banned the use of FFP1 and 2 several years ago & we have to supply FFP3 minimum or full closed respirators, this is done in conjunction with a detailed risk assessment and face fit testing of operatives

You would be shocked how much leaks around the edges when properly tested with fit test dye

Our sites are regularly visited by The Health & Safety Exec 'swot teams' with potential serious fines & imposed shut downs & what I see within the NHS & care workers looks like completely un-regulated use of not always, fit for purpose masks putting employees at risk

I share your observation.
While production plant safety regulations were always quite strict some regulations in the care-workers „industry“ are less than good for the workers and the customers.
Government is very cost sensitive when related to service
