I removed my sun-visors and had a tinted strip put across the top of the windscreen, works a treat.

I sit too high for the sun visors to work, quality glasses and a selection of hats onboard cover it. I can't see the point of wind deflectors they look odd and don't work, (I almost always have side screens on)

It’s also worth pointing out, I think they all come with the threaded inserts fitted in the windscreen frame, it would be easy enough to buy the visors later and fit them yourself.

Seconding what Ewn says, a good pair of polarizing sunnies are much more useful and can be used in and out of the car.

Maui Jims get my vote, they have some of the best lenses / tints available and most can also be made up to your spec prescription as well. A very important accessory to protect drivers of open cars from too much UV.

No connection to the suppliers, just a very happy user and retired optician.

Though I am a proponent in the Sun visors' camp. I've been using Maui Jim's sunglasses with progressive lenses for 12 years. I like them so much that I had new lenses made for the existing model to adjust it to my eyesight.

And totally beyond the way things usually are....(usually means a presented solution is something I never have handy)….I own a pair of Maui Jim's. They will now permanently reside in the car.

I use these. Very cheap so a pair in each car. Don't care if they get damaged. They also stop the wind making my eyes water.

Digging out my dusty old opticians hat for a bit.

Please make sure your sunglasses are marked with a CE or BS marking (BS EN 1836:2005) to show they protect your eyes from harmful UV. Many cheaper fashion sunglasses do not have this marking and so will not protect your eyes.

It is not about how dark the tint is, a dark tint with inadequate UV filtering will cause the iris of the eye to open up and allow more UV to enter the eye than without the lens.

Sunglasses tints are also catorgised as Zero - 4 according to their light transmission.
Zero being a "clear" untinted lens passing 80% - 99% of light to the eye.
2 & 3 both being acceptable for day time driving only.
4 being "very dark" passing only 3% to 8% of light to the eye, these are classified as "Not for day or night driving"

That's useful info David. What is your opinion about polarization v just a dark lense?
