Wow water damaged electrics, Caveat Emptor ! And "mileage inconsistency" to boot...... Lots of debate on this one throughout the auction commentary bid to US$30,000 but 2 days to go..... Not sure this is going to make a reserve...

If last years MOAVII was anything to go by then a less than perfect Aero 8 is not the way to go. There were two Aero 8s on the rally and they were the ones that had the most mechanical issues both being towed on a number of occasions with one not completing the event. They were well looked after Aeros that had been fully maintained and prepped for the event.

There does seem to be some enlightened pricing floating around right now. Even the highly skilled and knowledgeable people at Williams made me pause for breath recently! https://www.pistonheads.com/classif...-8/morgan-aero-coupe-aero-coupe/10360243A Coupe for £125,000. I seem to remember several years back that it changed hands for something approaching half of that. If they can get it then I have another one waiting for them to sell !
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I was strongly interested in getting that car, I thought it would go in the 45-50k$ range and would afford me the opportunity of a finally getting into aero ownership with the undrstanding that I could experience some higher running cost during the first few months. Much to my surprise it went way above that. I talked to the owner (very nice guy) and his mechanic/electrician. The amount of money spent on the rebuilt of the car was incredible, north of 40k. Pretty much everything electronic was changed but the wiring loom: started, alternator, EWS, ECU, dash instruments, windshield wiper motor, window motor. All drivetrain was checked, clutch, TOB, pressure plate replace, gearbox and transmission opened, all bearings replaced. What baffles me is that I was apparently the only one from the 7-8 people willing to drop 45k or more on the car to pick up the phone. at the end I think the seller got a great price for his car, and the buyer a good deal if everything works out ok.
