I think this one should do well despite the current market conditions, let's see...

Very slow bidding but still 4 days to go...

Sold @ US$54,500
That's around A$86,500 on a straight currency conversion so about the current Australian market.
The auction commentary seemed to think it was about US$15,000 short of expectations.

Yes doing the currency conversion for here it is about the best you would see for a pre 97 plus 8, except of course the very early Moss box and FIA compliant ones.

It always saddens me when the vehicle description includes “..... is now offered on behalf of the late owner’s estate.....” as this beautiful Morgan’s description states. You know that this was the owner's pride and joy, ordered exactly as he wanted and with the photo build record documenting his car being built per his desires.
With only 16k miles in 22 years it is hardly broken in, but here’s to hoping that the owner had a huge smile on his face for every single one of those miles, and I’d be willing to wager that he did. Hopefully this vehicle will go to someone who will love it as much as it appears the previous owner did.

I'm afraid I'm more on the pragmatic side, this is often where the bargains lie!

BARGAINS John..? I wonder what evaluation process you might be using..? Even pre-Covid-19 there were quite a few questions in my mind relative to the evaluation of ICE car market values as the result of possible changes in legislation relative to climate change..?

The whole idea of classic cars as some form of investment seems to be a tad risky, and as for Morgans, it seems the young have little interest in them..? Given the likely age of the average Morganeer.. it looks to me that there may be a degree of re-evaluation required, IF there might have ever been a need or plan that the value tied up in a Morgan may in time be released for other purposes...?

I suspect the sad story of Morgans and other classics coming to market as the result of any of the three "D`s" and the desire being to then turn hardly used toys back into cash, is one that seems likely to grow with time as the Covid effect begins to be REALLY felt, add to that the baby boomers such as I loosing their grip on the perch. and while I am no economist, I think markets work on a base line of supply relative demand..?

If on the other hand the possibility of falling value presents an opportunity to upgrade one`s classic car, and with no concern relative to the amount of cash involved in the process, then that may indeed be regarded as an opportunity, even if it seems possible the classic`s market value might seem likely to fall further still. perhaps even becoming deemed worthless in the market...?

Though having acquired that classic for a bargain price, when do we imagine we might be able to use it on the road..? Perhaps that matters not a jot, if like so many other classics it provides pleasure enough to have it just sitting in the garage, as so many such machines seem to do.... My own included..?

I expect a process of the re-evaluation of much may begin if not immediately, then perhaps sooner rather than later..? However there would seem to have been perhaps a 10 year build up of momentum in the classic market and others, which Covid-19 may have some potential to put the brakes on to some degree, if/when a somewhat more basic level of priorities may come to pass..?

Yeah, it`s being such a cheery chap that keeps me going.... laugh2
