Learner Plates Off!
My 2006 4/4 Anniversary 1952

Hello,
I would like to introduce my Morgan 4/4 anniversary representing the year 1952. I bought the car from the second owner last August with 12.500km on clock.
What was changed by the former owners?
-powdercoated wheels
-lowered number plates (back+front)
-bonnet stay kit
-luggage rack (not mounted right know)
What was changed by me?
-radio navigation system (VDO RS4150 MP3)
-white flasher lights allaround
-cargo net for the glove box
-glas lenses in the side lights
I hope that I forgot nothing.

Keep mogging,

Christian

Thinking of adding one to my '76 4/4.

Hello Graham,
no I didn't buy it from the factory. It is an BMW part and quite easy to install. I have written a german manual how to install it. Do you understand German? In this case you find a download link below. Otherwise I have to translate it which will take a while (Maybe you could correct my spelling and we could publish it in the board).

How to install Cargo Net (fileserve)
I don't have an access to the original data right now but I could send an E-mail on friday if interesting.

BR

Hello J,
the fog and rear lights are original but they have been mounted on this big plastic thing (see last page of the brochure; link in another mail by me). One of the former owners "lowered" them. They are the standard L691 Lucas lights. For example Stafford Vehicle components (www.s-v-c.co.uk) sell them. For the fog light you can also use the reverse light and change the white lens to red one. The standard stop and tail light has not the right electrical base because it has an unnecessary stop part.
BTW: Many thanks for all the compliments. I really like the car too blush. At that I thought she was one of the nicer affordable example offered in Germany last summer. The car was offered with really bad (very dark or not focused) picture which afforded a lot of imagination for potential buyers. It also took a while to contact the owner but the deal was perfect in less than our after a short test ride.

Keep mogging

Hello Jay,
I will make some photos for you but I need a little bit time. The folding windscreen is original by the factory. The mechanism is nicer than the aftermarket parts in my eyes. But if you fold the screen down it is quite high over the dash board (more than 5cm/2in. space gap). For smaller person it could be to high. I am 180cm (approx. 6 feet) and the creen is in my visual field. Driving with screen down is also more a thing for town than country. I used a bike goggle but it was very stormy without wearing a leather cap.

Keep mogging,

Christian,

I'm afraid the only German I learned was a couple of months in my first high school. We then moved house 70 miles and the new school didn't teach German.

I didn't know BMW glove boxes had cargo nets! It will be interesting to see your experience / fitting.

Cheers,

Hello Jay,
here a the announced photos. The factory solution looks well in my eyes but it is not very practical. For one person alone it is not very easy to fold the screen. The manual recommends to dismount the wipers because they could damage the screen. I can only say that the folding is easier without wipers but they cannot touch the screen if you don't turn them on.

Thanks for those Christian, it all looks very neat but as you said earlier, the folded screen does sit quite high. I wonder if thats the same with other makes of folding frames?

The only other issue I'd have would be the wiring for the heated screen and how the wiring is extended.

I remove the wipers. I have seen folding heated screens with plus connectors for the wiring.
I would say it sits higher tham my kit which was from Hearts of England. That sits 2 1/2 inches high from the middle of the bulkhead next to the wiper boss to the bottom of the screen.
Try talking to John Worral at HoE he was very helpful.

I have a Simmonds hood and needed to cut & drill the side arms of the folding mechanism. He told me exactly what to do & it worked.

Good luck

John

Hello Christian,

I have an anniversary folding screen on my 2008 Plus 4 and with a little practice you will be able to put the screen up and down on your own in minutes. However do put a hat or a scarf on the bonnet to protect it should the screen drop.

Do take off the wipers, from my own experience when I first had the car I caught the wiper stalk getting in or out of the car and tangled the wipers which blew the fuse. You can buy a set of 3 very smart domed chromed nuts to cover the wiper splines.

Regards Nick
