It is a new carb. The engine had a 40 year old Weber 32 ADF which had a hot water choke system (that didn't work) plus other inlet/outlets that had been blanked off (fuel return, etc.). I spoke with Guy Croft and he recommended this carburettor but re-jetted for the Fiat 2 ltr engine, which has been done. The engine runs fine, I was just curious as to what the pipe was for.

Maybe I'll try the vacuum test on the opening with the engine running. It could have been blanked off by the supplier as he did the re-jetting and knew which engine it was going to be used on.

These are a neat solution. I usually put a cable tie round as well.

The carb on my spare Fiat 2L engine is a Weber 34 ADF 54/250, as fitted to the Fiat 131 and 132. Hope this helps Les.

That's what I had on the engine, but Guy Croft suggested the 32/36 DGV as it's a comparable carb and spare parts are readily available. Just needed to re-jet it for my engine.

He's very respected in the Fiat world, so I'd be happy with his advice.

I've tested it and definitely a vacuum, so I've blanked it off. When I can get out and warm the engine up properly I'll check the air/fuel mixture again.
