Just to make it clear thought I'd post this as a separate topic, just so it's clear.

Daft hound just over 5 months - has found that rolling in other dogs poo is fun

Its a natural instinct I am told. Ours does it with fox poo if he finds any. Mind you the last great dane we had was at a time when we ere raising cattle in a small way, and there was nothig she liked more than finding a liquid cow pat and slurping it up. She was also fond of putting her front paws on your shoulder and licking your face. Put the two things together ...............

Present dog is 20 months old springer poodle cross and is absolutely manic. Doesnt matter how long the walk is, he starts running and runs all the time and finishes running. In between diving into the river and digging in the river bank.

Are you anticipating the demise of the older dog in getting a pup?

Yes we are preparing for the big hole he'll leave, not the big holes he used to dig!

Archie the older one is 12 1/2 and his back end is getting quite fragile, after chasing Hector the other afternoon, he collapsed and shuffled off to his bed for an hour before moving again. It's quite sad even sadder now I've chopped his coat off as the recent heat increase has him panting quite heavy, poor thing looks like a peeled dog!

In terms of rolling in things the only thing Archie ever rolled in was a nice maggoty dead badger!

I used to have a Boxer and there was nothing she loved more than rolling on her back in cow sh1t !
No idea what the attraction was......

Our Dachshund rolled in badger dermot, which is somehow appropriate if you know what dachs means. It is the most unbelievably stinky stuff and she managed to do it after we had turned everything off, including the hot water, at our mountain cottage. She certainly could not come in the car stinking the way she did so she got a very cold wash for her troubles.

Jumping on the band wagon here is Benji our 9 year old Lhasa patiently awaiting a trip to the beach late last summer. Happy times!

I can't help but feel wistful browsing these lovely photo's & posts. Stringer is enjoying self isolation with his real owner during lockdown, and I've found it unbelievably strange without the routine and simple company that he brought before all this. He never texts or calls, either..

Well since our cat got a run here on the Morgan and Boat Tail I should give our two King Charles Cavalier Spaniel pups a showing.

Sadly missed but sure he has found some dermont to roll in up there or wherever he maybe.
