The 04 Roadster seems to want a new battery, with the C word virus the Mog isn’t getting the exercise it prefers and consequently the battery doesn’t seem to be holding its charge as long as it once did.
It currently has an Odyssey Extreme 925 which comes in at about £150-£160, a chum in the know (don’t we all know one of those) recommended a Bosch S4 063 at about £40-£50.
So ignoring my ITK mate and throwing this at a group of people I have never met but trust a bit more
What’s your thoughts on battery brands in the UK in 2020.
Thanks for any thoughts

Yusa from Halfords seem OK, well priced.

Main consideration before price is to ensure the CCA (cold cranking amps) are similar to your existing battery. (Note, not to be confused with Ah (ampere hour) capacity.)

I have used Halfords for many years to source battery’s, no need for the exotic their own brand 4 year battery’s are fine quality especially as our cars are not overloaded with electrical consumers.

+1 for avoiding exotic brands with matching prices. At best they only prolong their eventual demise. Better to have a new cheaper full capacity one sooner.

I have the same Odyssey PC925 in my plus 4, took the suggestion from Librands.

I looked up that Bosch battery, pretty impressive numbers way cheaper than the PC925.

Bosch isn’t a fly-by-night company. To me, if you’re needing a change it’d be worth a gamble.

Now on the other hand, if you happened to have custom fit an Odyssey battery clamp...

Bosch, in the tintops, the old Mini & the classic MTW

I recently tested the one in the MTW and after standing over 4 months without being charged (naughty) was still showing good volts indicating over 90% charge

So yes, I do rate the Bosch brand
