Just an idle quarantine post.

New to Morgans and, as my car is climbing up from the bare chassis with me replacing large chunks of timber so perhaps the car doesn't seem as 'set in stone' as it might, I was wondering if anyone knows of any 'specials' that may have been made ....thinking of boat-tail bodies, post 50s cars with cycle front wings etc ..... will admit to thinking for a minute when I looked over the 4 seater bodywork that it would look good with a varnished 30s style pickup bed at the back, practical too ..

Don't worry, you won't be encouraging me to commit some automotive atrocity ...it's going back as Morgan intended smile ....but, having been around lots of classic racing specials over the years, I'm curious what may have been done in the past.

If I had the space, (and the money) I'd buy an old tatty four seater and do this:

That would be mass of work with the dropped front axle etc but a head-turner ....V6 .... had a friend with a Dax Rush with a highly tuned K V6 Rover in it ...scary powerful.

Fortunately Forum security will protect your anonymity so you don't have to worry about purists lurking in alleys to give you a good working over on your way back from the pub !! smile

There was a Plus 8 for sale around 5 years ago in metallic blue and silver and they had removed the front wings and running boards complete and replaced them with cycle mudguards, it was different but looked very cool if that's your thing.

There are a few "dicky seat" Morgan conversions around and Harpers did a few Plus 8 four seaters, but yours will be the first pick up truck grin2

A Le Mans version of the +8 must have looked stunning. Did they do anything to the cowl & how did they fix the headlights.
The Le Mans flat rads always look good to me.

From memory the lights were attached to an extension of the crosshead, it did look redolent of the flat rad version.

Years ago I saw a picture of I think a plus 4 that had been rear ended and the repairer had created a boat tail incorporating a small boot, unfortunately can't find the picture but I believe it was a UK car. Looked smart from memory.

I must admit the LeMans flat rad with cycle wings does look a bit special

Had I bought a project car with frontal damage then I reckon I'd have thought long about the fabrication needed for that vs the cost of wings and cowl

Very pretty indeed .... headlights seem to be on a bar fixed across the front to the same mounting as the wing supports on the top of the cross frame for full wing cars

And you can't have too many louvres
