I wonder how many people regularly check the tie rods? I know of at least three that have fractured, usually at the lower end where the threads start but unless you give it a wiggle, you are unlikely to notice as it stays in the normal diagonal position.

I have a central remote grease "pot" with tylen hoses for the upper nipples, and a switch to select left or right! Works very well for many years, lower nipples by hand and not so often...!

That's a neat idea Ruut.
Saves carrying a grease gun for those long trips away.

Ruut,
how does it cope with the engine heat. Doesn't the grease melt or do you use a higher melting point grease.

My Morgan had the front suspension overhauled twice, first at 45000miles then again at 70000miles.
The car ran with non metallic bushings the first 45000 miles, then with bronze from 45´to 70´.

That´s why I asked for devol, plastic not bronze autumn 2019, when it was last overhauled.

During overhaul the front suspension was equipped with upper nipples, which I discovered when removing the wheels for polishing.

I called the garage which had done the work, asking how I should relate to my new nipples.

The reply was basically to ignore them and continue to grease the lower ones.

I use PM Petromark MoS2 EP-2 grease. No problems with engine heat so far!

I had it up on my axle stands and Weber jacks for safety ps got some black chassis paint .

I asked the chap if he would hire me his ramp , Better still he let me use it FOR FREE . SO I BOUGHT HIM A CARRIER BAG FULL OF BISCUITS OF ALL KINDS
HE took them into his room out of the way of his daughter and son in-law and workers
