My trip meter has given readings differing by up to 30 miles from start-up to start-up recently (last week: 129 at end of journey; today: 159 at the outset, reverting to 134 after a stop-over). Has anyone else experienced this and is there a suggested fix?

I remember this happened with mine , as I can remember people suggesting someone was borrowing it without me realising ! (Not easy with the steering wheel removed 😀)
I'm afraid I can't remember how it was cured , as it wasn't a continuous problem . I'm wondering if it was related to the rectifier packing up .
Hopefully someone else will be more helpful ...

I thought I spotted this as well with mine on the last trip. Left with x miles and got home with less than x.
I wrote it off as needing a new pair of glasses.

I recalled this phenomenon and did a search. A guy called Nick Valentine, from Maryland USA, posted a similar problem on TM back in 2017. However, a solution to the problem did not seem to get offered. At least, you are not alone or imagining things! Maybe Nick might read this or you could send him a pm?

It just reminds me of some things I went through in the 60's... if I could remember the 60's

The failure of accurate trip and therefore probably total reading would possibly impact warranty claims for other things that fail. I personally have started using my gps to record trip mileage.

I think it uses a sensor on the RH front wheel. Have you checked this wiring? If you gave a later car that uses an OBD socket for diagnostics rather than the micro USB you could plug in one of those monitors that log journeys such as the AA Car Genie.

Talking about fuel gauge, mine has started from one day to the other to go down at twice the previous speed, I.e. I’m now back to zero%in less than 200km. A classic evolution ? My M3W is just one year old...
