Interesting thanks. Did notice that roller rockers are shown as stock not the pressed steel production ones. Do like the black finish covers as well, better suited to the M3W IMHO.

Interesting the change in the breather system (see photo 12). I've often wondered why there are those machined recesses in the heads just in front of the intake runners.

Agree the black rocker covers look solid. I have the chrome stage 1 air filter cover and have been eyeing up the black air filter cover for some time.

I like the look. My road king has that black with polished fins with the lower in black and chrome but chrome rocker covers

Interesting article.
Amazing how little skirt there is on the piston, very modern!
The splash oil catch tank that collects and feeds oil down the uphill pushrod tube is different as well as the current optional roller rockers.

The black fins and cover would dissipate heat more rapidly.

MMC charged a premium for the less efficient shiny ones and now I think don't offer black. My car has the bright pack but I did not spec it, I took on a cancelled order. I got it new in 3 weeks in 2013.

I think the main reason for dropping the standard black finish cooling fins was because the sharp edges were polished off on the shiny version which better fitted the tighter regs. A great shame on an engine that particularly needs to dissipate heat. Possibly why Krazy Horse who acquired the rights to the JAP covers, kept the black versions to themselves and only allowed MMC to offer the shiny ones as an option.

Check out this VIDEO of Jay Leno riding the X-Wedge one-off bike in 2008. Listen to Jay's comments at 3:25 and then ask yourself what did Morgan do wrong? innocent
