Ha ha! Wider alloy wheels, roof bars, side rails and the same steering wheel as my wife's slc (with paddle shift). So mainly things that slow it down!

My nephew fitted a bed into his grotty Transit. My sister refers to it as a "Trannybago"
That Vito is rather splendid - and a substantial saving on a factory build too.

No offence taken :-).
The down side that nobody has mentioned is depreciation. It won't hold its value like a professional conversion. But I hope to keep this for some time and probably won't care by the time I sell it....

In 1976 my father build his first motor home in a Fiat 238 van. Everything was made out of 8mm plywood. Because he used the van during the week for his building company, the conversion had to take as little time as possible. It took about ¾ of an hour to fit it all in. Nothing was screwed into the van. The cupboard fitted behind the cabin seats and the bench seats with build in storage were placed over the rear wheel arches. The floor held it all in place. The table slotted in between the seats and folded down to make a bed. In the cupboard there was a fridge, a 2 burner gas hob and a jerry can with 20 l of water. We went to the South of France in it, to Spain ... In 1985 we converted the lot to fit in his Renault Traffic 2.5D and in 2005 we sold it all to a guy with a Mercedes MB 100. Sadly I deleted the photo's from my hard disk last year. In 1994 my father bought a new motor home: a Ford Transit based Aswan Safariways. When my father died in 2006, we took over the motor home and we still use it today because it’s only 5.20m long and it’s very practical to use in the UK. ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/4754/39990150542_65516da9c2_c.jpg)

All such vehicles need a sport pack SFG - these are the real sports cars. The tow bar adds the sport pack. So it´s the dinghy ore the bicycles as sport packs for me 😉

Looks a fantastic job and a substantial saving on getting one already converted ? I would like to tackle a conversion but have neither the space or time . We had a large 6 berth motorhome we bought from new which we loved but was too big really. We then sold it and got a caravan  (yes I know ) We loved it when set up but dragging it about was a pain so sold that ! We then looked at the campervans like yours but crikey, the price of them !! 40-45-50 + k for a conversion !! Getting about is great but Its just too much for a tiny living space. Its all a balancing act isnt it We decided they were too small anyway for any more than 3 or 4 days so we gave it a miss. We may look at smaller morotorhomes again at some stage as we really loved that. We really like the Autosleeper Symbol ( and similar) which is probably that halfway point between campervan and motorhome. Heading to autotrader and ebay now hahah  We bought this Hymer MLT540 on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis just over three years ago. At 6.4m long it fits in our driveway easily and you can park it most places with no problem. It's really comfortable with a fixed bed and plenty of room inside to play guitar. We've been all over the UK, France and Ireland and love it.
