I'm thinking of changing my headlights to a pair of Lucas LUB384 with Pilot. Planning on using the pilot for DRL.
Is anyone running with this or the LUB314. Both units are H4 with P43t Halogen bulbs.
Greatly appreciate your feedback.

I've done this in my 72 4/4 - not for DRL (I'm not a fan) but as an extra pair of sidelights. Have LED's in both sets.

Fairly easy - I needed to need to trim the metal headlight bowl backplate as it fouled on the sidelight bulb holder. I just cut a narrow U shape using a drill and a dremel.

Tried to get the additional wiring through the same hole as the main headlight but it was too tight, so drilled another hole below and stuck a grommet in. I spliced mine into the wing sidelight circuits, but of you want DRL you can wire them up to an ignition live.

I fitted the plastic ones with half moon LEDs as shown in miscellany. They are from a Land Rover.

I did the same as John years ago. Buy them of the web for £60 or so a pair. Hold the usual H4 bulbs.

If you're referring to Steve, he gave them to me. Spares for my 90. I've used one.

I have 4 OEM units in stock as someone else gave me a spare set.
If I do a mod I generally like to keep the old bits in case I sell the car & the next guy wants originality.

John, I had a garage full of stuff stored on the basis of you keeping spare headlights.... Only in recent years have I cleared out..though still have a few treasures… Lotus hub cap as an example, and loads of tools I am unlikely to make much use of in future...hmm.

Yes but mine are now organised by type on shelves. If this goes on I might start to label the boxes etc & put it all on a spreadsheet.
Today I mopped the garage floor.

anyway I find if I get rid of something the next month I need one of them.
