I could make a new one from scratch, engine turned aluminium is bought in sheets, That's how Cain does his panels which are subsequently laser or water jet cut

I fabricated all new interior trim panels in turned aluminium for a 4 seater V6 Roadster a few years back. I'll have to see if I can dig out the pictures at some point.

And yes, Revolutions called me for advice and parts...

I thought major manufacturers now only held spares for 10 years. Most modern cars are seen as disposable.

No, after 10years it goes into the "classic" line, prices get a 50% increase and voila, more profit!

I hope Simon or Cooperman can help you out Kevin.

The problem will be (I suspect) that the original was cut from an engine turned, flat sheet (as Simon pointed out) but then pressed into the 3D shape.

To recreate a copy you would need to be able to shape the contours on the sides.

If you try to engine turn your original cover, it is nigh on impossible to complete the pattern on the edges*.....

Think I saw yours was very shiny on your rear view mirror post James. Do you have a cleaning OCD like myself. Would love to know I'm not alone in my liberal use of Autosol to cure all ills!

I would like to say Simon did a great job on the power steering pump and I think mine was one of the first at ACE Witney that used his exchange pump! It would have been yet another long wait otherwise!

To add (and I may have been fortunate) but I have had no issues getting spares for my S1, and the factory have been very helpful.
Thankfully people like Simon are here to support the parts you can no longer get.
