Yuk, when was that last changed.

Assuming that's from your 2000 +4, your fuel tank is probably the same as my 4/4 and it does make me wonder what crud has built up over the years.

+Yes Bob its the T16 Plus 4 Rover engine, last changed 20k miles ago...hopefully my pump should last a bit longer as it does not have to pump through a bad filter!

Yuck. You might try something like stabil the fuel stabiliser to help with the crud.

Fit a filter between the tank and pump to protect your fuel pump. Also check your flexible fuel hoses. That black stuff could be from them. Ethanol induced failure!

How did you change the fuel filter? I think, the filter is locatet above the fuel tank. Did you remove the tank? Do You have some Pictures of the Operation?

Take out the spare wheel & disconnect it. You don't need to remove the tank

Oh, I understand. But I have the 4/4 Sport without a Spare. Wheel. The back is closed. So I think, I have a big Problem to change the fuel filter.

The filters have a bead on the in and out pipes (seen in the photo). The pipes that fit onto them have fittings that lock over the beads. To release them you need to press on the plastic clip part of the fitting to release it. Refitting is simple push fit. You might need to use thin pliers to release them BUT gentle pressure only! Put a rag under the filter to catch petrol that will spill out.
