I just joined a couple weeks ago and found the forum helpful in preparing to purchase a Morgan in the U.S. I read everything offered here on Aero 8s and did some outside research as well. Apparently there were 14 2007 Aero 8s sold in the U.S., and I found that seven of them were currently being offered for sale. I bought one of the two 2007 Aero 8s offered by Dennis Glavis of MorganWest in southern California. Dennis has been good to deal with and we successfully shipped the car cross country from his shop to Annapolis, Maryland where I live. It is Bentley Continental Blue with Biscuit interior. It was the 2007 Los Angeles International Car Show Car and also was shown at the Quail Gathering in Monterrey that year. It also appeared in a Morgan exhibit at the Petersen Museum. I have always liked Morgans and have admired Aero 8s for their very special and lovingly odd good looks. The car that I bought had very low miles, but that is quickly changing--I love the way it drives. I have a number of mostly antique cars and motorcyles and a few relatively modern vehicles of special interest to me. In the English vehicle category I also have a 2004 Caterham Super Light and 3 Vincent motorcyles: a 1952 Black Shadow, a 1955 Black Prince and a 1967 Egli Vincent, all wonderful machines in their own way. rkell - welcome and congratulations. By coincidence you live in the same town as David Poole, author of the epic masterpiece "GEMS by Poole" which describes in detail the later Plus 8 Rover engines. Please buy him a beer for me if you run into him!

I've always described my previous Aero 8 as a 'grown up' Caterham, so will be interested in your thoughts and comparisons?

Owning a Morgan is like being part of a very small club; however, that club is even more exclusive when you consider the amount of Mogans in North America, let alone the number of Aero 8s!

I would imagine the positive attention we receive in the UK is magnified 10x in the USA?

The Morgan turns heads like no other car I own. I have a Panamera Turbo and it might as well be a Honda Civic for 99 out of 100 people. The ones who do react to the Porsche are serious and a little somber. Of course, the turbo is serious and is a pleasure to drive, all technical and speed, although I find the new seven speed automatic with it strange dual clutches a little mushy and uncertain until harder acceleration. The Caterham brings smiles from most people, altho they seem to think it is some kind of strange early MG. It is hard as a rock, speaking of which you better avoid rocks on the road as it has even less clearance than the Aero 8. Both the Caterham (with a 250 hp Ford Focus 4 and 1018 pounds total weigth soaking wet) and the Porsche are a little faster than the Aero 8, but I find the Morgan to be more comfortable and an overall better driving experience. I certainly like the BMW manual vs. the Porsche automatic (altho the caterham sourced 5 speed is a tidy and quick shifting unit). In terms of the sensory experience, the Porsche is all blinding speed in a hermetically sealed box, the Caterham is all about blowing your face out of proportion (no windshield) and an incredible series of loud, wailing barks (straight pipes), but the Aero 8 is a very comfortable, classic (looking down that long hood)tight handling and wonderful melody from the side pipes.
