Eventually I grew up and put proper exhaust on. We measured the noise at work and it 104 decibels. I found it just too wearing after a while.

I suspect IDENTITY seems to be more important than ORIGINALITY given the outcome of the High Court judgement of Old Number 1 ... and perhaps there may be a degree of agreement of that on here here when patina is mentioned as having a degree of value..As for the way the MARKET might care to judge such values, well I guess that may be different..? I remember seeing a mint Blower Bentley while attending the one-off classic car show on Jonny Dumfries` estate on the Island of Bute, and hearing mumbling to the effect that it was not "real" but it sure looked real enough to me..(-: I posted pics on here and from those here who are knowledgable it seems it was indeed a recreation. I had also posted pics of a very patinated Bentley dash thatwas at the show, and will try to post those two pics below, along with one locally owned boat tail Bentley being enjoyed at a gymkanah..(-: It does seem that creating and maintaining perfection is somewhat prevalent in the world of classics today, and that may have crept over into the world of Vintage cars to some degree, which for me has perhaps created a new level of evaluation that seems...err...somewhat false, in that destroying patina and the linkage it has as an aid to the confirmation of identity may not be a worthwhile ideal...? Some time back on GoMoG there was a very well written piece relative to the appearance of a less than perfect paintwork in that it bore signs of usage on a Morgan, the author may have been the GoMoG webmaster, dunno for sure, but it seemed to suggest that having a "perfect" Morgan may not be the ultimate in terms of enjoying Morganeering. Further to the above I also remember reading on eMog about a VERY patinated old Morgan that had been documented as used to cover the length and breadth of the US and turned up at a glittering Morgan event held in the grounds of a fancy hotel. From a poor memory, it was given pride of place in the foyer of the hotel.... Perfection seems not to be everyone`s ideal, sometimes being the odd one out may have value..? (-: With that in mind, I can be comfortable to some extent given my old Mog is not quite perfect, and never ever will be in my ownership, I am happy to leave that task to the next owner..(-: Can`t write about Bentley without remembering Bill Button, who put a great deal of effort into the maintenance and repair of his Bentley. https://www.tm-img.com/image/gHLAghttps://www.tm-img.com/image/gHSbChttps://www.tm-img.com/image/gHizQ

That is a real beauty Britain's finest. George I totally agree with you a shiny that doesn't see the rain and snow holds no personal appeal whatsoever to me, I can be happy that some people like polishing and things but I prefer a well patinated car for personal use and to look at it's a good job we are all different. That is one of the main reasons I don't go to the annual Mog events a single marque of shiny things doesn't work for me. Did I mention polishing comes below hoovering for me .. I always give my 21 year old an annual polish whether she needs it or not because she's worth it . Walking in slowly around the inner car parking area at Revival is a pure joy for me and normally takes around a couple of hours to drink in the most amazing old machinery that has been driven there come rain or shine just wonderful that these owners share with us all their treasures and amazing to see how far some have travelled to attend our Mecca of old cars.

JohnV6, many thanks for posting the pics, I obviously messed up the links... Duh!
Should perhaps mention that the pictured dash was not that of the boat tail Bentley in the other pic, but a well travelled old red Bentley that, I first came across down at LeMans in 2002 when we were down there for the 24 hrs. If I remember rightly it lived in Ayrshire... did you note the flasher unit installed using the dangle system...(-:
Richard, while a scratch or dent will never break my heart, I have been known to polish the old thing on rare occasions..(-: Such was the quality of Kevin`s work that it still looks pretty good in all areas and could be returned to concours condition without a great deal of effort..

You need to copy the full BB code for the photo to show. I have no idea why but it works.

If you look at the code when you put it into your post John (before you hit "Post Reply"), you will see it contains the full picture file name (ending ".jpg" or other picture file extension) surrounded by the html code to insert an image BBCode = Bulletin Board Code What George is posting is the link to where the image is held on tm-img. I remember the Bentley photos George. that dash!

In an earlier post, I mentioned that I’ve always hankered after a 2CV...
I now have full authority from SWMBO to proceed, and am off to look at one (observing social distancing of course!) in the morning.
It’ll be a long night...
