I am also going out, but only in the Morgan. Dominic Rabb clarified this morning on BBC one around 07:40 that there is no restriction to the amount you can drive with the exception of going into the devolved areas. Not times for violins or hearts and flowers statement but I’ve just had an absolute dermot 12 months and six months of treatment to buy me a little extra time (we are talking a few years three maybe five) and I have no intention whatsoever of missing the opportunity to not use every day to its maximum.
I bought this car in celebration of a better medical prognosis last October and apart from one pub lunch and again out to put tyres on it its stood unused in the garage that will change this week when, probably on Thursday, I shall fire her up and go for a drive I will be on my own in the car and I may meet up with another Morgan owner we will sit in our cars with a flask and chat at least 6 feet apart we will be parked up in a country side car park that at the moment is closed but as there is no barrier we will park in a corner and if anybody else comes close we will drive off I don’t think it’s irresponsible I think it conforms with the guidance and it’s my choice to do it.
Everyone must make their own choice but I do love the posting from somebody who put up something that said don’t count the days make the days count.
BR save miles to everyone.
Colin (prepping and greasing the car today!) Well I sincerely hope you have a great drive out after the torrid year you have had and totally understand your viewpoint, besides it's only right that someone that has put so much enjoyment back into other peoples Morganing by way of king pins etc and regaling us with your funny previous motoring adventures that we have all enjoyed gets to put the pedal to the metal in a safe manner That is so kind, thank you. Wiser heads (mates not SWMBO) have prevailed and pointed out that as I am in the extremely vulnerable group it’s rather unwise. I have listened and so will bow to wiser heads and maybe, just maybe, go for a 20 mile local drive as we are a few miles from countryside instead of the planned 160 mile round trip to Rutland Water along mostly B roads. That will be saved for when BoJo gives the thumbs up. After all the NHS has done for me it really would be rather insulting I think to abuse their kindness. So, maybe a 45 min run out on old stomping grounds I haven’t seen for 40 years. Maybe another book started, maybe another day in the garden. Not under any rush. ;-). Thanks Again! Colin Good man Colin, sometimes we have to listen you must let us know how good it feels to get out there and give it a go after such a patient wait with your new car, you are going to drink in every second in great gulps

I think I'll wait until the people who haven't driven for six weeks have got used to the roads again.

My stomping ground Kevin, having been born in Cottingham five miles north of Hull. Still have family there plus a sister in Scarborough. We usually manage a holiday or visit to Whitby each year, our favourite NE coastal town.
Best fish and chips tasted recently in Thorne BTW (where my narrowboat presently is). Perhaps not surprising as it's only a shortish hop from Grimsby.

This is the only time I wish I was English. Wait! Did I really say that? Please don’t let the Arch Druid see that. I am pleading Cabin Fever symptoms.

Not to worry I am happy to adopt you as a distant cousin if that helps? With a surname of Jones there must be some link somewhere ;-) BR Colin

It's easy to swap - I went to University in Wales, and became Welsh so I could qualify for the Welsh Assembly grant (£1500 a year, so not to be sniffed at).....

It was written in the media today that Government Guidelines state that you may car share, as long as the windows are left open. So with a Morgan you can carry anyone in the passenger seat, even if not from your family!
It was also written in the Evening Standard today that the College of Policing and the National Police Chiefs' Council have told Chief Constables that they cannot enforce "Guidelines"' only the Law as written. The Health Protection (Corona Virus Restrictions) (England) 26 March 2020 and as amended on 13 May 2020 include the 2m rule as guidance, not law.
There is concern that many of the more officious Police Forces may have acted illegally in handing out so many penalty notices. If so, the lawyers are going to have fun, claiming damages....!!

Side screens off then. I thought though you were also supposed to look away from the others. That could be dangerous.
