Hi guys, Since i have a newer model of the 3 wheeler my tank doesn't come with a dipstick. What is the best practice to measure the oil level? Should I run the engine for a few minutes first? Then what's the reading? Is it supposed to be between the two notches ? As in below the left mark but above the right one? ![[Linked Image]](http://www.talkmorgan.com/gallery/26/medium/39156.jpg) My car is parked in a slightly slanted parking ramp. Owner's manual mention a stick which i don't have so I need to know the "to do" here, since I have no idea if the car is low on oil. Best, E.

Run for about 1 minute to cut and put the oil level on the top step

Hi Osten,
Run the engine for couple minutes. Turn off and let sit on level surface for a few minutes. The oil level should touch the bottom of the upper metal marker. There is no dipstick for the newer models.

There was no dipstick for my 2013 model
I had the oil level covering the bottom marker

I think your biggest concern should be finding level ground, particularly side to side, then look into the tank. Oil between those two plates is good. Remember the oil tanks for the big bikes is a couple of quarts less than this big 6 liter tank.

do remember that the Morgan oil tank holds 6 quarts where the normal sump on a motorcycle would only hold 3 + quarts. But as others have mentioned run for a minute or so to get all the oil back into the tank (out of the lower engine area) and then anywhere between the lines is fine

This year, because my engine had been standing for so long, I decided to drain the sump and transfer the contents to the tank before starting it up. I was surprised to find that a full 2 litres of oil drained out of the engine.

I was surprised to find that a full 2 litres of oil drained out of the engine. How much oil drains back through the pump into the sump? Or can it even do that? I've started doing the same routine of draining the sump after it's been standing for more than a few days and tipping it back into the tank before firing it up. Might be subjective but the times I've done this the engine fires up really quite easily instead of needing lots of churning over before deigning to burst into life. Maybe the load of pumping all that cold oil?
