After talking to Simon today decided to remove the console this evening to get ready to send off to him to use for a mould. All very straightforward apart from getting off the elbow pad which was stuck down with a double sided piece of thick tape as well as the panel plug. After trying with plastic panel removers with no success had to use a very slim electrical screw driver and some padding and then came out easily.

Two self tappers held the rest on and then pushed the window buttons out from below after removing plug unit from button buttons then pushed out by squeezing thin metal retaining clips in. Seems my TPMS is still there so may take it to an electrical specialist to see if they can bring it back to life. Then inevitably need to do something with the sensors in the wheels if they still work at all. Any advice on that welcome!

TPMS removal was simply a case of gently pushing on screen and small amount of sticky stuff holding it in let go and 3 buttons not attached to anything but simply fell out of panel.

The console is surprisingly heavy as it seems to be made up of a resin base which gives it its strength so stopping the light aluminium being deformed covered with a thin sheet of aluminium as shown in the pictures. Not sure how they are bonded at all.

Seems reforming may not be quite as straightforward as I thought but will contact Simon the real expert and let him decide.

Well done for getting it off intact... I'm not good with trim panels.

Re: the TPMS system, I'd not bother. My '09 Aeromax had a centenary badge over the dash aperture previously used for TPMS - that tells me that the factory had given up trying to get it to work reliably by that point in time.

Also, I know your car is (well!) before 2012 so is exempt form the MOT requirement that TPMS warning systems fitted must be working, but it's all extra hassle to explain this to a jumpy MOT tester who sees a light.

I think it's more the challenge of getting it as perfect as I can get it. Must be my OCD that hates seeing anything scratched, rusted, not working etc. Frustrates the hell out of me for some reason. I think buying a Morgan will be the ultimate ocd challenge! 😁

Hello Nick. Yes Simon at Sifab is working on it as we speak using my old console as the pattern. Called him last week and he is very close but perfecting the turning as he wasn't happy with the first model and wants it perfect. Should have news on completion soon and will post pictures when I have it.

I'm currently running with no console and have to say the heat coming through the tunnel is frightening with the window buttons getting so hot I can hardly touch them. Thankfully I have a new pair of those ready to go into the new console as the finish had some cracking in the old ones

Are you doing the dash as well or is that ok.

Not doing the dash as it isn't too bad but has some dulling round the heater, aircon and fan turn switches. Would really love to polish it out but have learnt my lesson!

I was originally quoted nearly a thousand including the VAT for the centre console so would probably weep at the cost of a dash and with all the electrics etc it would probably be beyond my DIY removal skills anyway. I'm also not sure if they are even available anymore as with the console so would have to rely on Simon again if he were able to produce them.
