I was just about to start the installation and took out the parts from their packaging.
I do not see the "bobbins" - do I not need specific bobbins for G56? Can I just use the stock bobbins?
These are the parts I have:

Did you order the bobbins with the G56 mufflers?

Stephen, I did not order them but I assumed they come with the kit's other hardware.

In any case, passenger side installed now ... using the stock bobbins. They appear to be compatible.
Must be that the older 2012/2013 cars had smaller bobbins and in such case you would need to order new style bobbins in addition to the kit.
On to the other side after dinner.

If you have a dB meter or app for your phone I would appreciate knowing the sound pressure level at 3k rpm with no load. Everyone Posts videos but I have not seen measurable numbers of the noise.

The stock M3W produces 93db @ 3k rpm according to the placards affixed to the machine. I measured a stock one yesterday at 91db @ 3k under no load. My AR Stage 1 measure 110db @3k no load so the G56 will be N interesting number.

These numbers were obtained with a dB meter and an iPhone app at face level sitting in the cockpit.

Stephen, which app do you use? I can get the same one for consistency. I can definitely share the decibel readings here.

I went for a quick test drive. A few first impressions:
1. M3W feels a bit happier at lower RPMs. It does not want to just stall at 2K RPM. Relaxed cruising/motoring at low RPMs in 5th or 4th gear seems possible.
2. Exhaust note is heftier and not as low pitched as stock, which I prefer.
3. At higher RPMs it’s a bit louder than stock exhaust but since you can shift to higher gears and then it feels quieter than stock exhaust. A more comfortable cruising sound.
4, There are some burbles and crackles which stock exhaust did not have. Adds to the driving experience and character.
5. Overall aural experience feels a bit more pleasant and considerably less straining to my ears.

If you have the later type of exhaust with the heat shield bolted to the car then you should also have the heavier duty exhaust bobbins that can be transferred onto the G56 system. If you want to fit new ones there is a Renault 25, Espace item that seems to be the same as Morgan use, RTN 255-336.

I used the free trial “db” meter that turns into an expensive $15+ / mo after the trial. Dumped it after the trial. A few years ago I purchased a dB meter “sound pressure level meter” from radio shack and it is not very expensive and costs nothing per month😊. It measured within a couple of dB with the apps I have used. The app I initially used went out of date with the phone upgrades and now cost way to much money to make it worth keeping it on the phone, but free trial seems ok.

Thanks for the info regarding Renault 25 part. That is good to know for reference.
In the meantime, I contacted Chris at G56 and he will send me some bobbins even though the kit actually does not come with them.

I just purchased an app called Decibel X. It is expensive for an app, but hopefully will be accurate.
I will post some numbers for you this weekend if not earlier.
