Thanks Golden, they apparently are very quiet compared to the Stage 1 AR system.

Think it would be better if the G56 brackets had 4 bolts like the later OEM brackets rather than being based on the early 3 bolt brackets.
With the G56 ones being wider there is more leverage and the extra length below the bottom bolt there is a far bit of flex of the side skin.
If I was doing it again think I would bond a larger aluminium plate over the existing one to spread the load.

You may well have been picking up wind noise if you measure whilst driving.

A more objective test would be to use a trackday type process, for example 45 degrees and 1 metre from the exhaust exit at 2/3 max rpm.

Based on tests at Goodwood the stock exhaust is about 96dB and AR Stage 1 about 106dB at 4,000 rpm

Chris, my ear when I am driving it is the place I would like to know sound pressure levels. 1 meter behind the exhaust exits is pointless to the occupants, only a government official want that test.

I'd spent 2 days earlier in the Summer trying to get one of the exhausts off - lots of chiselling. Today I used the strap wrench and it came off in 5 minutes!!!!

Painted the mounts in heat proof paint. Using the old heatshield domed bolt to fill in the top mount hole. Ran out of light this evening - should be done tomorrow!

What about it do you love? I'm on the fence about ordering it and would appreciate hearing what you like about it.
Also, what did you end up doing with the exposed mount holes?
Thanks!

I have a G56 Exhaust - and love the deep sounds it makes. And at speed it is loud but not too loud. And it makes the throttle response a lot better. I think it is honestly one of the best upgrades you can do to let the motor actually breath.

I recently had a chance to drive a M3W with a stock exhaust and air filter - and compared to my car with a S&S Stealth air cleaner and the G56 - the throttle response on my car was much crisper and quicker.

The owner of the stock M3W drove my car.... and came away with the same conclusion: He said you push the gas on his car and "it thinks about going for a bit and then decides to actually get moving." On my car his seat of the pants assessment was he pushed the gas and "it was time to go NOW!!!" with such purpose and conviction that it put a large grin on his face. He went away convinced he needed to order a G56 and I went away confirming I would never be going back to the stock exhaust.

Hope this helps JohnMat. DM me if you want to chat about the G56 on the phone. Cannot say enough good stuff about it.

SiFab offer full stainless exhausts bobbins for 4 wheelers as shown below. Around £3.50 each.

You would need to check if suitable for M3W but rubber part is 30mm dia. x 20mm height with same M8 studs. Mine failed due to rusting of the metal to rubber interface which destroys the bond.

I second that about the superb G56 throttle response I run the Morgan AR1 exhausts too and would say the G56 have the edge
A lighter G56 option would be good, maybe in titanium ?
