I will be fitting my new SiFab Aluminium radiator soon, clearly draining the coolant prior to removing the old radiator!!. Is there a recommended brand of anti freeze/coolant mix?
My current mix, as it was supplied from the dealer has an orange colour look to it.
Thanks,
John

Don't change from the current longlife coolant, if you mix different types (OAT, Glycol, etc) then can react with each other and crystallize, or gel inside the engine and radiator

The OAT organic red coolant life expectancy 5 years and the older blue coolant Glycol 2 yearsas Simon of sifab says above. I have fitted SiFab radiator to my TR4 1958 Morgan and I am very pleased.

Just to avoid confusion, neither of these colours is appropriate for the 2011 +4.and as John said, his is an orangey colour (just like mine) My earlier post quotes the spec in handbook which is the same as the Motorcraft superplus spec.

And watch out if you are using silicone hoses that are not certified for use with OAT coolant - it eats away at them.
But as yes as others have said Never mix the orange/red OAT with the non OAT coolants.

The colour is not a good guide! There is no colour standard for the different types. Manufacturers are not all the same. You need to check the actual specification for coolant type for your system and use the same.
The water pump check is worthwhile too. Also a good flush of the engine cooling system.

I've stripped down my Crossflow, removed the head, replaced the water pump. I'm also repacing the Rad with SiFab rad, which i brought last May/June. What is a good coolant? In the pass I have used a waterless coolant from Caterpillar.

Personally I use water and a traditional Blue/Green antifreeze on a 50:50 mix.

I'm sure I read that there may be an issue with OAT technology and some classic silicon/copper parts which steered me away from using it.
