Good luck FW I'm just a little bit jealous, I hope it fits for you and the good lady they are a lot better suspended than the Morgan's so will better suit your good lady smile I like your plan here btw.

I had a Dyane for years .... (all the same mechanically but in a sunday frock) ..... absolutely ace cars .... they teach you loads about holding speed and reading the road .....bends, roundabouts, you name it, you don't want to be doing any of that namby-pamby slowing down business!! smile ...

Would have another tomorrow if I wasn't trying to shed, rather than gain, cars !

I just loved the feeling of the Ami 8 listing over in the corners it really did feel like you were driving on the door handles but just never let go even on those skinny Michelins - the most fun and economic car we ever owned nothing more to add.

Never had one but the angle of lean always put me off.
This was in Buenos Aires in 1976, I was working out there and just had to watch some racing!

We discovered when I was quite young that radical body lean angles doesn't necessarily mean bad handling ie a late 50s Alfa Giulietta saloon with good 1600 engine pulling away from a Holden Monaro V8 through twisty hill roads north of Auckland .

Had one and the angle is pure fun!
Had a Scheel und Mann extreme bucket Seat for the driver.
Going fsa fully legal is great and handling is not that bad.
There is full street contact on all four wheels all the time.
We had wonderful tours to Italy and I remember fun race with a local Dyane where we both gave all we had.

Itˋs the next classic I would want to own... if I had a bit more room...

Loved our Dyane back in the 70s and had many fun miles in it.
Memories of going to Boots to buy 2 litres of castor oil for the suspension and being asked whether I had a problem! Apart from the frugal petrol consumption running it wasn't altogether cheap though, especially replacement of the in-board front disc brakes.
Sold it when we had our first child as I thought that the construction wasn't much stronger than the pram we had at the time. Having seen one at the NEC a couple of years ago I wondered about another but am opting for a model instead!

Well, what a week I’ve had!

Yesterday we had arranged to go to the Retired Greyhound Trust as they were open again so we could find another companion dog for our existing retired greyhound. Unexpectedly we came home with another dog, I’d expected to choose and collect another time.

Then yesterday afternoon I found a suitable 2CV, which I viewed today (Social distance etc duly observed).

Car had been subject to chassis off renovation by respected specialists, the bills coming to an eye watering amount.

Deal was duly struck, collection next week after the current owner (a 2CV club member and retired PSA technician) has got a new MOT on it as the current one expires in 6 weeks time.

So a slight change to the thread title, no longer “would like to own” but have now successfully procured. crazy2

Not my first colour choice but it is original to the car, and like all classics you have to buy on condition..

Congratulations, Fat Wolfie. She looks great, a real time machine!

BTW this article was written as a comparison between the two cars...“Two extremes, one price“.
