thanks for the photo, mine keeps twisting about 30 degrees. dump it i would prefer just to back out the set screw, use a small drill to create a pocket in the shaft, and then locktite the screw.

Any clues how to get the gearknob collar off? So far tried taping it and then using a cable tie to get leverage...
EDIT - that trick worked second go! Has to be tight as the collar holds the gearknob in the right position in my 2015 version...

There’s a small grubscrew which holds the knob it then unscrews - I found tape wrapped around the threaded portion of the mx5 gear lever which I removed to allow the new threaded gear knob to be screwed on

Thanks Mark. On mine the collar unscrewed that allowed the gearknob to unscrew - both from a tube with external threads either end (for collar and know respectively) and 3 grubscrews that pinched an inner separate plastic tube that was over the gear stick. Seemed a little Heath Robinson but it worked!
