It has been very hot this week and my wife has been suffering when out in the Morgan. It finally dawned on us that we might put the hood up and leave the side screens off. Result and better and cheaper than aircon. We never used the hood in England but summer here is quite different

In theory this is a good idea and I have done it quite a number of times but, with a 4-seater, the rear interior acts like a giant air scoop and puts strain on the hood fixings. I assume a 2-seater could well suffer similarly, unless you have a zipped rear window. If you do run like this it would be well to check stitching and fixings every so often.

I agree, had zipped rear windows on several Triumphs I have owned and found them very useful in venting the car when the roof was up because the sun was too hot.

Certainly on my 'to do' list when things calm down. Should be fairly straightforward for a good trimmer to pop a zip in the back.

I remember someone on here mentioning he just released the hood at the rear (easy up) so the airflow could pass through the gap underneath. Sounds like an easy solution. Not sure how it would cope with higher speeds though..

See Miscellany December 2014 pp42 &43. Tried it, but I'm not keen on the back being released especially, as you say, whilst travelling at higher speeds.

Bimini tops have featured on here a number of times over the years. Just search on the word Bimini. From memory there was a Belgian mentioned a few years ago who made biminis for boats and cars

Had a look. Oh dear, I wouldn't want to disfigure my Morgan with one of those flimsy-looking contraptions.

Bimini. Looks like an old-fashioned deckchair on the roof!
