Sportster, you just removed the one baffle 24" in from the front? There is one 44" in on mine, and then the last two are 11 and 22? in from the rear. I drilled out the 44" on both pipes but have yet to try it.

You are correct, the information here on TM is impressive. It also show how the cars have evolved over the years. Mine is a 2019 and probably has different baffle configurations than your earlier one.

I want to try the drilled pipes but the passenger side pipe tip sticks out from the body 3/4" further than the driver side and my OCD nature struggles with the idea of "Fixing" it :-)

When I drilled out the baffle 24” from the front end I could see two more baffles towards the rear of the pipe with multiple holes in each. I could see the posterior baffle through the holes in the one in front of it. I don’t have a baffle 44” in. Looking from the rear end of the pipe the most posterior baffle is about a foot in from the end. So I left the two posterior baffles and cat in the header pipe untouched.

With the 44 gone on both pipes and the one (1) baffle I had at 24 I now have what you do. Looking forward to trying them out.

I finally got around to removing the AR pipes and installing the 2019 factory pipes with the front two baffles removed. When i put them back on i noticed that the holes in the rear baffles were at least 5/16” dia so i left them.

Once warm it runs well and the noise is so reduced that my ears are still thanking me. Video comparisons to follow.

Here is the difference in sound between drilled front baffles and the AR Stage 1 pipes.

AR Pipes.

OEM Drilled Baffles.

Now you can hear all the other expensive rattles and noises that MMC seems to enjoy.

Really nice demonstration videos.

Very smooth with the AR pipes.

Quite a bit more vibration with the modified stock pipes. Stephen I just answered your private message to me. Perhaps your engine/ ECU set up requires a slightly more opened up exhaust to run smoother. So your idea of making the holes of the posterior baffle larger is a good one.

Here is the latest sound check with the rear most baffle on each side all 6 holes bored out to 3/8". I left the next baffle in intact, and I like the sound so hopefully a short 100 mile trip tomorrow to get the ECU happier with the backpressure. I still intend to get the ECU Tuned to the engine properly.

You can hear the rather expensive sounding noises coming from the transmission/clutch area.

Close to the end of the video I hold up 3 fingers to indicate the 3K RPM sound.

After boring out the holes.

AR Stage 1 Exhaust tone.
