Looking to replace all current tyres, for spirited country road driving. Car will only be used in the dry and not worried about tyre wear. Comfort is still important. What do people recommend ?

Currently shod with Avon ZV5 205/65R15 94V.

Unfortunately there are no really sporty tyres in this size. I have very good experience with Dunlop Bluresponse (in 195/65/15)) on a 1973 Porsche 911, which is also available in 205/65/15.

What about Avon ZV7? Standard MMC fit on Roadster and latest Plus Four as below. Work well on both models, good reviews and available in your size here.

I too have been very pleasantly surprised by the Dunlop Bluresponse , they have great grip and that is comparing to Yokohama AO48 barely legal street/track tyres.

Ok the AO48 are in a slightly different league in the dry, but they only last (on my Elise) 8000 km on the rear axle and they are as loud as hell. And they are hardly usable in the wet. But I agree with you, the Dunlop Bluresponse are a positive surprise.

I put zv7s on my 2012 Plus 4 Sport last year and am pleased with them... although I haven't tried them to their limits on a track. I did find that the original zv5s and the wider rims of the sport were rather all or nothing when I went round Snetterton.... lots and lots of grip then suddenly no grip. But that could have been old tyres or driver incompetence :-)

I was astonished that for the zv7s National Tyres were the cheapest and could actually balance wire wheels (well the Ipswich branch could).
