I don't name wives, let alone cars, but "Possum" is "Possum" because its reg plate is PSM. No brainer.

Only some of my vehicles have attracted tongue in cheek names over the years. I've had:

Jeremy Jensen
Percival Porsche
Lenny Land Rover
and now Morton Morgan
definately a pattern here innocent with the exception of the 5 speed M3W I previously owned which was simply named The Beast.

My Morgan is Megan as her reg is MGN , my Morris Minor is Agnes named after my deceased Mother in Law because she is old and difficult .
When she passed there was a small inheritance , we didn't need the money and it gives us a good reminder of the real Agnes .
My late mothers house is now up for sale and my share will be spent on something to remind me of her .
It might even be a new Morgan .

When I sold the well sorted 2002 +8 in 2007 and ordered a 4 seat +4 some of my Morgan pals thought I had lost my marbles..... so I called the car ‘Festina Lente’ and had it printed at the bottom of the number plates.

Quite a few asked What/why which surprised me.

I too admit to never ever having thought to name a car, other than perhaps swearing at it, but I have never sworn at my Morgan in all the time I have owned it.. (-:

If it became law to identify my Morgan in addition to the badge on it`s cowl, I suspect Mistress may be applicable given it ever brings a degree of excitement and variety into my life when I sit in it ready for the off. My +8 costs less than the upkeep of a mistress (I`m reliably informed). Should any of the many likely issues arise from having a mistress of the human variety, Morgan issues can be resolved with a few tools, which seems preferable than the costs of lawyers and settlements....!!! For sure A Morgan mistress would seem to be much less fuss and bother.... especially a pre-digital one... laugh2

Wasn't it Rob who renamed it Festering Lentils? grin2

Haven't named mine, though the first one was just RTA (from the reg).
The Boxster was Piggie, for obvious reasons.
swmbo wanted to call the 90 Bluebell(e) - though I rejected the name at the time, it has slowly grown on me.
A pal calls my 4/4 Bumblebee, but I've yet to find any black (apart from the tyres and chassis smile ). And a volunteer at the pumping station museum near Derby called it Buttercup.

In my head your car has always been ‘The Custard Special’.... Lars car (different shade of custard) was Rupert from the moment Sue saw it on the day he flew in and we took him to Harper’s. Yes it was Uriah’s Elder Brother who came up with Festering Lentils, but then he is from Walsall so what can you expect ;-).

Your Sue was bang on with Bluevein or whatever it was for that oil burning tractor of yours....;-)
