It's not such an expensive item. I changed to an NGK coilpack after 70.000 km and I imagine that the engine runs a little bit stronger and smoother. You can put the original part on the shelf.

We shouldn’t overlook the probability that the extra fuel cut-off circuit is an add-on to Scrape the last few percentage points during pre-production validation tests for emissions and consumption, and not much else. I’ve been hearing some tales about the tricks the engineers got up to. I’m told that volvo had a switch operated by opening the bonnet , which changed the ecu settings during emissions testing.
If that were true I’d be happy to leave it bypassed, and might explain why those in the know have kept silent.
Ah, perhaps I shouldn’t have said that. Best delete it.
