My 2014 4/4 was 55 litres...most I ever had to put in it was 48 litres on a trip to Venice...didn't trust accuracy of gauge !!!!

I usually do 200 miles & start looking for fuel. The running avg for the Roadster over 36,335 miles is 29 mpg. The work 23 mpg.

Hi John

That’s what I used to do with my +8 but with the +4 it was 300 and never got much more than about 35ltrs in. As this car has been mapped and an AR exhaust etc. Fitted by previous owner I think I should start being more conservative and maybe not aim for the 400 until I get to know the tank. Like most other Morgan’s the gauge is useless as it stays on full until I have done over 200 miles so the car probably has half a tank full in around then.

Cheers All

Colin

Can you measure it and calculate the volume? I did that on my previous car, a 1993 4/4 with it in the car. Handbook quoted 55l and measurements confirmed it. I was overhauling and flushing the system so I cross checked the fuel gauge. I poured a measured gallon in and noted the gauge reading. At 1 gallon the needle was touching “E” for empty. A handy fall back leaving a gallon for safety. 38mpg if driven carefully so a handy limit. I don’t like leaving the tank go that low either.

If only ;-) with no cut out in the rear panel and no tool tray on the Sport it’s quite a faff to even see the fuel tank ;-). I think the info supplied by you guys is right and unless someone says otherwise will take it as 55 Litres, will plan to not go below 45 Litre use (40 to start with and will carry my spare fuel can) and track refills to confirm. The way it’s running (just tootling A and B roads for 300ish miles so far) that should give me about 350 miles between fills.

I am guessing it’s not going to end up far away from my previous +4’s with Duarte’s, yes they are larger engines but much more torque so could pull higher gears sooner.

Many thanks
Colin

Your spallchucker is working well again! smile
I not only have a typical Morgan fuel gauge, but have also worked out that my mileometer is running somewhere between 15 and 20% low...

Hi Graham
Don’t know if the VDO later gauges are more accurate but my last few cars have been very good, I know they can be tweaked with input programme codes but never bothered as they are plenty good enough for me. (Plus nothing is as good as someone sitting alongside calling out yardage from the Terratrip 🤣🤣🤣)

I suspect my fuel gauge is down to the sender unit. Even brimming the tank shows no more than 3/4 - there are a number of Morgans exactly the same.
As for the Terratrip, couldn't agree more! smile
