I have a spare one if you end up wanting one, any sensible offer accepted....

Had one in my last 4/4.Expensive footrest. But worth the money to keep Mrs JB more comfortable.Rarely used it for storage- for all the reasons above,

The thought of having to kneel on the ground to access the contents, put me off fitting one to my 4/4.
Also, it goes against the “keep it basic” philosophy I have with my 4/4.

Like Mike, we find it indispensable when touring in Europe.

It's an ideal place to keep documents but also to store camera, sat nav and other bulky valuable stuff when leaving the car unattended.

Ours is covered in a thick layer of black neoprene. This makes invisible to the casual observer and also makes it much more comfortable to rest feet on.

Me too - each to their own but they are a waste of money in my opinon

I find ours useful, full of emergency touring spares, so the unlikely event of needing the awkward access is rare, & is actually far less of a pain than taking all the parcel shelf luggage out to get the obd reader out of the tool tray !

Navigator likes it as a pretend brake pedal

I bought the MMC one as it a bit more subdued in satin black

Built an MDF mock up to gauge my good ladies preference on leg room.

Original intention was to fabricate a permanent version in sheet aluminium.

May now just cover the MDF in neoprene.

A worthwhile addition to prevent passenger gradually sliding into the footwell!

I thought the locker was a bit overpriced, so I purchased a cash box from the office supplier (Staples in those days) and bolted it through the floor using security headed setscrews. SWIMBO found it an deal footrest and when touring we store documents etc in there

+1 for all the positive comments - footrest etc - much more secure and larger as a place for camera and lenses than the glove box or behind the seats. The Librands one is unpainted aluminium, so a bit obvious - painted mine matt black to make it almost invisible - I think the MSCC version is already matt black, if they still supply it. Be aware that there are two sizes - one of them does not fit a +8 so make sure you get the one that fits your model and year of manufacture! Kneeling on the ground to reach it is a bit of a pain, but we only use it when we need to leave a camera in it or other valuables.

I lifted the carpet before I fitted mine, then just lay the carpet over the front of the locker. Makes it completely invisible and having to pull back the carpet isn’t that much of a pain considering you have to kneel and reach in to access it anyway.
