Hello there, I am wondering about whether my Morgan 4/4 will be compatible with E10 fuel when it comes on stream in 2021? Can anybody enlighten me please? Kindest regards, Adrian.

RAC website advises that cars built from 2011 are compatible. But they also advise to avoid E10 on cars built prior to 2002 as problems have been reported. It looks as if in the short term E5 will still be available in some places, but I guess it will be like the unleaded debacle...more expensive, difficult to find and fading away after a few short years.
Although it may not damage engines, it’s the ancillaries like fuel pipes etc that will rot away. They also say it doesn’t store so well so I guess those who only polish rather than drive could find themselves in trouble.

there are stabilisers you can add to the fuel like sta bil.
Not sure if that would help. I have used it on my garden tools after $5 eat the fuel lines on my hedge trimmer & the fuel tank on my mower.

I have used E10 in continental Europe many times on the 1980 +8 without problems.

I use Castrol Valvemaster Plus on old engines. Works very well.

I Polish and only do approx 2,000 year, so that’s me buggered then ?

It's all about the quality and personal value of those miles to you not the distance covered Craig and besides we wouldn't want that to happen to you

It seems you keep your fueling in good order.

I had a1993 cvh efi. The fuel pump failed. The car was 17 years old. I decided to go through the system from tank to filter in the engine bay. There was some muck in the pump ( I cut it open to check).
Flushed the tank using the drain plug to empty. A couple of bits in there ( filtered the flushing petrol to check). So, replaced the pump, new flexible hoses, extra filter between tank and pump. New main filter. I cut the old one open and it was pretty clean anyway so I didn’t strip anything further on (injectors etc). The old flexi pipes were ok on the outside with no cracking etc. and nothing easily seen inside. No misfires after that refurb. I also put new plug leads on later as a further upgrade. I still had the originals also 17 yrs old.
Looking at the age of your car then perhaps replacing the older original parts is worth it. Age causes deterioration, especially rubber exposed to ethanol. Use ethanol safe replacements.
