I'm involved with several car enthusiast activities and events. The car community, in general, never ceases to surprise me at their ability to put differences aside and enjoy each other and their machinery as well as being very generous with charitable events.. One of my favorites is our local Cars and Coffee events (which I hope can start up again by early July). Every demographic, every level of car, and every interest - they all hang out and talk about their common ground.
In the last 10 years I've seen friendships, clubs, and internet forums dissolve because of politics. I like this group because it focuses on common ground, illustrated nicely in the OP's story. I hope it stays that way because politics can turn ugly in a hurry.

I have very good friends in the USA: Davis, Seattle, Austin, Dallas, New Haven, Miami,... Some like and others dislike Trump. So, every time they criticize him for something specific, I look at the news from all sides, trying to clean any manipulation or too hard opinion to have a balance.

Many times, I realize that the news we get in Europe from the USA, are not clean enough. As our own news by the way.

If I have to dislike someone or something, in my case it’s the manipulative press. I really hate when a journalist, who is supposed to give news from an impartial point of view, turns the new into his interpretation and opinion. The newspapers and TV news are not real anymore, and that’s sad, as they can cause much more social confrontation than any politician.

The second dislike would go to those who can’t discuss in harmony, and get radical in their opinion and aggressive towards whoever thinks otherwise. I get away from this kind of people.

I believe the World is in a critical stage, and the first thing to clean up to recover stability is precisely the press. Until this cleaning happens, we better run and hide. But I still haven’t found this peaceful place. The idea of a big sailing boat, big enough to carry my Morgan 3 Wheeler with me around the World is getting stronger. If I only had the money to afford such a sailing yacht…

It’s just my opinion, obviously a personal one.
