I can’t imagine that the finish on that bare aluminum is as it came from the factory. Looks more like someone got tired of polishing it to keep it nice and shiny and took an orbital sander loaded with 180 grit and went at it.

I think it would be a nightmare of a project and a huge investment in time making it look decent at anything closer than 15ft away. Just one person’s opinion of course.

I think the current cost to order a polished bonnet and cowl for a new car is £8034.

I assume that the factory would be starting with mill finish aluminum which would have a considerably smoother finish than what is currently on this car in order to polish it for £8030? It wouldn’t surprise me if the cost was 2-3x to bring this one back *if that is what the new owner intends to do.*.

Perhaps he (she) likes it like this, or perhaps they felt it was a good starting point for primer and paint? Who knows, just seems like very strong money the way it is. Congratulations to the buyer for getting what they wanted in any case!

Looks like they had gone over it with a coarse 3M pad to flat it off as if to prepare for painting or maybe they like that look, it must have sat for long periods to have such low mileage and need all that hydraulic stuff replacing.
