Increasingly, I am finding that Amazon offers more competitive prices and their delivery is first class.

I find myself buying from Amazon sometimes even when they are slightly dearer because I now trust them to keep in touch and to deliver appropriately.

I just bought a food processor to make Leberkase as opposed to meat loaf. Robert Dyas was cheaper than Amazon or E bay & delivered as promised. So it pays to look around.
You can tell lockdown boredom is high as I have been developing the recipe over several weeks. I must remember to buy in some Weiss beer for next weeks experiment.

The recipe I started with is here Leberkase. It really needs a processor to duplicate the bowl chopper used in food factories.

Mrs Image's Dad worked at Robert Dyas from after the War when it was an old school hardware shop ....... as there was already a 'Bert' working there he was called 'Young Bert' and the name stuck..... he finally retired at 76 and later in his time there it became the Dyas equivalent of sending the new starters for a 'long stand' to send them down to the stores to get something from 'Young Bert'

Wonderful. I guess it is a bit different now.

Firstly your not buying from eBay, your buying from an individual or business that advertises their products on eBay platform, secondly by the time eBay, PayPal, the VAT man and the Tax man have taken their cut (ebay works out at @8.7%) the sellers margins are so tight they use the cheapest courier, 90% Hermes, which has an owner Driver system in place, cut throat & overload are a mild way of putting it.

If the Driver knocks and you don't answer in 30 sec he Drives off, many times suggesting (PARCEL DELIVERED)

eBay is a total nightmare we have an outlet that was doing £6k a week and we were making pennies, we are down to £1k of sales a week with eBay now, only selling things that are unique to us so there is no competion and margin errosion.

I pitty anyone who relies on eBay to make the bulk of their earnings and the buyer can simply press a button and send the product back because he/she
decided they do not want or need it anymore and you have to accept it.
A Customer of ours has had bricks and bottles of Orange sent back to him as returned carparts,
eBay sided with the purchaser even after photo evidence.

Well they arrived yesterday 12/6/20 at 16:30 hrs but sadly 25% were missing.


Oh well back to the drawing board.

Same here. My laptop hard drive started making some horrible sounds on Thursday so I ordered a replacement and it duly arrived 1:15 pm the next day. Data migrated and new drive installed in the evening. That may have been possible with an eBay seller but there's no way of knowing. With Amazon, if it says "fulfilled by Amazon" you can be pretty confident.

The delivery driver was equipped with a full-width PPE mask (quite a sizable item, the van was a Merc! )
