The world has gone nuts.
Why we are pandering to these bullies is beyond me. This has nothing to do with the death of George Floyd.
My wife is Black (French, born in Guadeloupe of a Guadeloupian mother and father of Indian ancestry. She's lived in the UK for 27 years.) she doesn't like being referred to as "a person of colour" or BAME. She is vehemently against the violence and tearing down of statues. This morning we were talking about Churchill and she said that he probably would have been considered racist today but in those bygone years he was considered patriotic, and he did so much good for the country. There is undoubtedly still quite a lot of racism in our world but pulling down statues isn't going to change that. Steve yours is the star letter (among a very classy field)  and should you chose to accept it I would like to send your good lady a bunch of flowers if you could PM me with your details etc I would appreciate that.

It is rather simple: people are stupid. Most of them are. Like sheep.
All you need are some barking dogs and you can direct sheep any direction you want..
Its not the sheep who are dangerous - but watch the few barking dogs! +1 Totally agree. I would add that, to better know the stupidity level of a country, you should look at the most viewed TV programs / prime time. And you'll realize how deep the brain damage is.

All you need are some barking dogs and you can direct sheep any direction you want..

I would add that, to better know the stupidity level of a country, you should look at the most viewed TV programs / prime time. And you'll realize how deep the brain damage is. Couple that with generations of social conditioning and you're on a hiding to nowhere......

I'd love to tell you that our nations youth are in good hands, but I'm not convinced - some of them pick Geography instead of History  And to be honest, the events of the last few weeks have had a massive resonance with our kids, despite them all being at home, and our inboxes have been full of empassioned messages from them. Lets hope we are producing a generation where a social conscience is a thing to be proud of, rather than a source of ridicule,

Imagine the Spanish scenario we have right now….generations of conditioned social parasites educated in their village schools in the Basque Country and Catalonia as "superior race, oppressed by the Spanish occupants of their beloved home territories", mixed with uneducated ignorant sheep population and a deeply and silly electoral law (Ley d'Hondt); and you get the explosive cocktail we have right now… a country guided by a bunch of analphabets without studies hating deeply each other and with a common target which is dismantling our Constitution and destroy our society and a common enemy which is the productive middle class worker that they will massacre with all new abusive taxes… Sorry, I’m suddenly depressed…

And instead of looking and reading history, real history not manipulated, they keep watching Big Brother, Geordie Shore and similar rubbish. We're doomed…  The main problem is that this middle class here in Spain, the one who really creates employment, and generates value, was silent for decades. But we're waking up as the situation has reached the limit (IMHO). We don't shut up anymore. I've become myself a grumpy street fighter against stupidity. In the past, I shut up when I see a stupid behaviour, situation or listen to a stupid opinion. Now I strike back, and normally (one of the "strange" effects of having a reasoneable cultural level, life experience confronted against stupidity) ends up in an emotional massacre of the stupid sheep. I'm against physical violence and will avoid it for sure, but I don't shut up anymore.  That's what offends me: stupid people.
