Ground clearance would only be reduced by 1/2 inch Yeah, but you’d also gain 1/2” of bridge clearance.

I run 18” wheels for racing
My AM26 130/80-18 tyres are too wide for my mudguards, but hey, maybe the wider Euro 4 mudguards might be worth a try. Should be a few knocking around cheap soon 😉
BTW, It cost the best part of £1000 to go 18”, but there is far superior grip and the tyres have lasted a full season of abuse
Are the motorcycle AM26's legal on the road do you know?

Ringa - AM26 is described as ideal for everyday use on mid-range bikes on the Avon website.
Seeing that the standard fit Avon’s are a sidecar tyre, do you think there is an issue
Personally I wouldn’t run them on a road car as I think there is too much of a gap to the mudguards

I know this is an ancient thread but can you share more about the wheels you used and your front and rear tire setup? I've been bringing my M3W to track days and have reached the point where the tire grip has become a major limitation. I've never experienced so much front end slide as I had yesterday.

I had some 19 inch Avon Road riders fitted after racing on the standard Avon SMs and undesteer was 1) Horrific and 2) More or less finished the tyres off in 2 races. The Road Riders more or less got rid of all understeer.

Thanks! What size Roadriders did you have? I didn't see any in the OEM size. Did you find any need to change out the rear tire?
