When I bought my new Rover V8 engine from the Land Rover specialist in 1991, it cost £1,100. That was a full engine with sump, heads and front cover/pulley but no flywheel. No manifolds or fuelling system. That was considerably cheaper than a rebuild. BL had just sold off their remaining L/C 3.5 RR spec engines into the trade.

If you were told this in confidence, why are you broadcasting it here?

Maybe that is how MMC (or Aero racing?) PR works. Its cheap and quite effective in Morgan circles (where maybe 95% of prospective buyers for this car are anyway). Reminds me of the rumours of the Plus4SS before there was an official anouncement. If it is true, I fear they will be for UK market only again?
Cheers J

Well at least it sounds as if this is for a limited period only and not a permanent change. I have no interest in a BMW V8 Roadster. The Duratec V6 is a nice comfortable engine for the Roadster.

Agree, the V6 is fine but...... I can't not want one, brutal power, V8 soundtrack and exclusivity. Almost hoping they wont be available on the continent to avoid the temptation. Cheers J

Pretty sure the BMW V8 useage is for another car - some dealers called it the +8+. Don't think the V8 will fit in a Trad chassis/body (even Roadster sized).

But - if they are contemplating an Aero chassis with V8 and trad-style bodywork, that will surely need Type Approval? And I don't see a Trad body passing that without major rework, where it is likely to lose a lot of the trad styling...

Cheers,

Graham I believe that the low-volume exemption has been increased to 1000 cars so that type-approval as such is not required. I assume it would need to adhere to the IVA requirements however.

Sounds good to me a trad style with more go. Alas Mr Osbourne seems to get prior dips into my income.
